I laugh at your criticism since it is nothing more than misplaced anger and jealousy. I am happy to debate our side of things all day long - you don't see anybody from our movement posting people's home addresses, cursing, threatening to fight people, etc... That is all your side, my man.
And you might recall I immediately said it was a bullshit thing to do to post pictures of you and your incompatibly attractive lady. Your the one who thinks he's gaining debating points by repeatedly relying on his "supporters." I'm just making persuasive arguments about what a tool you are acting like.
Again, you think I am acting like a tool because you don't like what we are doing... That's fine. As I said - when Woody does the right thing (which he will), you can thank all of us for doing the heavy lifting and helping him realize the way that 90% of Jets fans feel. Having to take a bunch of crap from a few trolls and message board superstars comes with the territory. You gotta crack a few eggs if you want to make an omelette, right?
90% is a bit of a stretch man. I couldn't find a thread supporting your campaign on JetsNation or JetsInsider and you have a little over 2000 twitter followers. Looks more like a very vocal 2-10% to me.
There is a world outside of social media and message boards. I know it is hard to believe. Go to a Jets game and see what the reaction is to Fire John Idzik t-shirts and banners and then report back. I know first hand because I have experienced it. Walk around the streets of NYC in a Fire Idzik hoodie and see what the reaction is. We are sending these flags across the world. Brazil, Ireland, UK, Mexico, Canada... Across the US in Alaska, Louisiana, Cali, New Mexico, Texas... Our web traffic is off the charts and we get THOUSANDS of emails weekly. Your opinion that it is only 2-10% is a very uneducated one. Further, show me where the "support Idzik" website is. Where are the "support Idzik" threads. How many thousands of people follow the "support Idzik" social media pages. What is stopping ANYBODY from starting those sites? I guess people would just rather support him by doing nothing.
This post is like the harmonic convergence of stupidity. Well done. I know you are just doing this for the children, because the organization needs you. Its not fair to criticize someone making such a noble sacrifice. So I take it all back. You aren't an embarrassment to Jets fans. Every teacher you ever had since kindergarten is another story though, considering your complete and utter lack of critical reasoning ability. Good luck on the way to the revolution, clyde.
My question to the Billboard folks is this: What happens if Woody doesn't heed your advice and keeps Idzik? He's NOT GONNA SELL so what's your plan B? Did you guys think about a fallback position yet? You might wanna start giving it some thought cause Woody just might dig in his heels and keep both Ryan AND Idzik out of spite.
Focus our attention on Woody and boycott tickets, merchandise & sponsors. PSL defaults. And if you thought our movement was loud now, just wait until you see how much louder we get.
Well then, good luck with that Fan Revolt. The end result might bring up that old saying: "be careful what you wish for"
It is not our wish to take things to that level. People have been calling on us to organize a boycott from the beginning. We have been trying to give Woody a mulligan and give him the chance to fix this. But you are correct. Bringing back Idzik would be inviting a full on fan revolt. Things will be ugly.
Where they post your address? I want to stop by and have some beers with you and shake your hand. Keep up the good work.
We will be posting our plans in the next couple of days for a pregame party on Sunday where we will be handing out towels and thanking our supporters. Definitely come by and have a beer with us. We met a lot of great people the last 2 days at our events at Wicked Wolf & Pub 46 - so we are definitely not hiding. Even Junc & Dierking are invited. I'd love to debate with you guys in person over a beer.
It's not right that people are personalizing this in the way they are right now with the threats and the stripping away of anonymity and all of that. That said, you need to realize you're not attacking John Idzik with this initiative. You're attacking the Jets, and Jet fans as well. This is not 15 lousy years of football here. This is not a team that has left it followers bereft of hope for a half a generation. This is a team going through a rough rebuild process and having you yahoos jump on top for your 15 minutes of fame is making things worse, not better. You've brought the circus back to town and in the process reinvigorated a hostile metro area press that had basically been beaten into submission before the billboard became a big thing. Yeah, the Jets suck this year and it's not completely clear why. That doesn't mean it's time to go to town on the organization and get all the noise going again. The noise was very bad for the Jets as recently as 2011 and now you've got it going again. Congratulations on that. Obviously it's the thing the Jets and the fans needed right now to cap off a miserable season.
This circus is in town because our management is a joke - not because the fans are calling them out on it. This movement is necessary in order to help eradicate it and chase the circus out of town. This organization is run by incompetence. Top to bottom. From the owner to the marching band. What we are doing is saying "enough is enough". This isn't a down year. This is rock bottom and a result of a pathetic mix of factors. It either ends after this season or Woody rewards it with his endorsement and another year that is sure to set this franchise back by another 5. We will not invest our hard earned money in that product.
One of the benefits of modern technology (the Internet, social media, etc) is that it can give the voice to the disenfranchised, and allow crowds of people who have little power individually combine into a much louder mouthpiece. Sometimes that's a very good thing, for example when people can speak out against an oppressive government or combine to support a niche product. But as with everything else, there is a flip side. In this case, the flip side is that a bunch of loud people used to instant gratification can hijack the microphone and say silly stuff very loudly. This is our record under Woody's ownership so far: 2000 9-7 2001 10-6 playoffs 2002 9-7 playoffs 2nd round 2003 6-10 2004 10-6 playoffs 2nd round 2005 4-12 2006 10-6 playoffs 2007 4-12 2008 9-7 2009 9-7 playoffs AFC championship game 2010 11-5 playoffs AFC championship game 2011 8-8 2012 6-10 2013 8-8 2014 3-11 So you can see we've made the playoffs in 6 of his 15 seasons as the owner. We've won a bunch of playoff games and made it to the conference championship twice. More importantly, we've only had 5 losing seasons, so 10 out of 15 seasons (66% of the time) we've been competitive. So where is this culture of failure that gets people so riled up? Obviously going after a 2nd year GM who came to the team explicitly to rebuild it from a very bad situation is similarly just silly.
Rebuild it with what?!?! Nobody that thinks firing Idzik is a bad idea ever backs it up with anything other than "it is silly to give up on him after 2 years". The guy has to opposite of the midas touch. Everything he has done besides drafting Richardson & trading for Ivory has been an unmitigated disaster. This team has ZERO hope for the future under his watch. But if accepting this sort of thing works for you, god speed. For the rest of us with our eyes open, we chose to do something about it. Again... You will thank us someday.
Personally, I don't count 8-8 as a winning season either. 8-8 is break even IMO so if we take those two seasons out, according to the numbers you used we wind up with 100-106 as a win/loss. Not quite .500 but definitely mediocre. Since we are what our record says we are, it stands to reason that under Woody's stewardship, we have been mediocre over the last 15 years. Now compared to the other 30 years that we mostly sucked, these are good numbers but I would wonder how that stacks up against the rest of the league during that same 15 year span.
I don't understand with the Jets at 3-11, with a shitty Qb, a GM with no track record of success who's obviously flailing, why some here are criticizing Jet fans who are exercising their God given constitutional rights to complain. WHo knows whether it will do any good? Woodrow is perfectly capable of drawing the wrong conclusions on any subject, let alone this one. So? It would make more sense to just quielty whimper in front of the tv? I find it amusing that fans are buying billboards and distributing towels. I don't do it myself, but i don't understand the anger against such people.
