According to the draft pundits there really isn't a top 5 caliber olineman in this years draft. If Mariota, Winston, and Cooper are off the board the value seems to be at pass rusher (Williams, Gregory, and Ray)
Wouldn't mind Gregory if Mariota, Winston and Cooper are off the board (and only if all 3 are off the board). He's going to be a beast pass rusher in the NFL, and a guy we've sorely lacked for a long time.
I was about to say that I hope Geno has a genital rupture in the first series, but I just can't root against this team. I'm not rooting for them, but if Leger smashes Jake Locker's brains on the field, I'm going to be ALL over that action. GO JETS. Just like it was GO JETS against the Vikings. Just like it will be GO JETS against the faggot cheating Patriots.
Is the special pass rusher going to score touchdowns? This team needs offensive playmakers then anything at this point.
And here, I thought it was Rex that was the problem, Idzik being the problem, Sanchez and Geno that were the problems. Who knew that it was the team going against decisions of a one-liner window licker living in the Appalachian "mountains" that was holding us back? Woody needs to hire a brain trust of toothless Tennessee river canoe builders to decide how to run his team.
To me Andrus Peat is def worthy of a top 5 pick. Haven't seen much of Brandon Scherff but lots of mocks have him going just outside the top 5. Either way both will be gone in the first 10 picks so there is talent there.
If we can't get Mariota we might as well trade down and start picking some solid receivers, linemen, and corners.
I'm hoping we land Mariota or an OT. however if we miss on Mariota, and there is no top 5 upside at OT when we pick, then i have no problem at all going defense.
An OLB wouldn't be the worse thing (in a bubble) so long as a qb isn't available. its a need, like OT is, we have a lot of needs, and we need talent wherever we can get it the best, #BPABITCHES
A WR is only as good as the QB throwing it to him. That's why teams with the Calvin Johnsons, AJ Greens, Josh Gordons and Brandon Marshalls never go anywhere. You still need a franchise QB, but if you have a franchise QB, you don't really need that type of elite WR, the QB can make things work with good but not great receivers. A dominant pass rusher, on the other hand, can have a much greater impact on games. The Giants won 2 Superbowls recently with dominant pass rushers (Michael Strahan and then Jason Pierre Paul with others) helping them prevail against a murder's row of elite QBs. Tampa won with Sapp and Simeon Rice, Patriots had Richard Seymour when they were winning Superbowls. Colts won with Freeney and Mathis. It's a much more valuable position.
Our Defense is fine. If we miss out on the top two Qb's, I'd much rather see them restock the OLine than the DLine.
We should only look at WR's if we don't resign Harvin. If we do, Harvin & Decker as your starting duo is a fucking very good starting combo. Throw in Kerley at the slot and Jace at TE and that's a GOOD receiving core. If you add A. Cooper and still have Geno or Vick throwing, you're still going to get the same production from the WR's as you did this year. As someone already stated, WR's are only as good as the QB's throwing the football. If we don't get Mariota/Winston (not even sure if they are worth taking), you go BPA. If that's a pass rusher, fuck yeah i'll take it. We haven't had one of those since JAbe. Then load up on OL and use that cap space on marginal vets to fill needs....and a new QB (should be plenty of stop gap vets on the market).
