I know Norv Turner is back to being an OC after being fired as an HC a few times, but he'd be good I would think at developing a Qb. I say that anticipating several would be opposed to that idea, and he might simply be too old to be an HC now.
The 49ers are stacked with talent they've been drafting for the future for like 2 off seasons straight now. Their defense is loaded and bethea answered their secondary problems for the most part. Their front 7 was suspended and injured up.. They still have talented young guys they they already had planned to be future starters they just had to come out early and are playing SOLID. Their offense is LOADED with talent.. Boldin, Crabtree, Stevie J, Brandon Lloyd... they've all been #1's before. Vernon is an all-pro TE, and they have a athletic QB thats supposed to be able to do it all. They got BETTER, way better.. on paper. They can't gel thats the problem, and thats why im skeptical of Harbaugh. He's supposed to be an offensive guy and a QB coach but their QB is regressing REAL quick and their offense is Jet-like. If he's having these issues there why wouldn't he have even MORE issues here? Because our team shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath as the 49ers if we're talkin TALENT. Bring Harbaugh if he brings that Defensive Coordinator with him because he is the real key to the 9ers success over these last 3 years
Who did Harbaugh develop??? Seems to me like he is working with two game managers, & they don't need to be developed they need to play smart in their scheme. If you wanna add Kaep to his resume of "great QB's he's developed" that's pretty weak. Kaep can't throw, his arm is suspect, decision making is flat out stupid.. and he forces the ball to his guy Crabtree way too much. Here's what is sounds like to me.. Harbaugh came to the 9ers and took the Rex route to success, run the hell out of that ball and play smash mouth defense. He's not out here making house hold names at QB i'm sorry. If Kaep wasn't fast he woulda never made it off that bench, if he made a team at all. Alex Smith, like kaep was in a run the hell out of the ball and play smash mouth defense type system under JIM also. All they did was play mistake free football. Nobody there was lighting up defenses or threatening to break future passing records.
Younger guy. They need a 40 year old who knows QB's and knows how to coach. Harbaugh would be an acceptable choice if that's who it turned out but he's past the 50 mark and that really is the age when you begin to get diminishing returns in a new hire most of the time. He's never won a Super Bowl though so there's no question he's still hungry. That's one of the things Rex has going for him too. He has no laurels to rest on and if he found the right situation he might win one yet. Jon Gruden knows QB's as well as anybody. He'd be a czar-position though. You'd hire him the same way the Jets hired Parcells, the organization is his at that point. As much as I admire what Bill Parcells did for the Jets and for the fans he didn't win a Super Bowl and he got out of dodge quickly when he realized the attempt had failed.
I don't think he's failed with Kaepernick. I think Kaep is just as good as he is capable of. He's reached his ceiling
I don't necessarily think age is the big factor - Norv is 62. You have guys that are up there and are still in it - Coughlin (68), Carroll (63), Fox (59). But that being said, I think Norv is better served being an OC.
Yeah i wouldn't say he FAILED.. but he damn sure didn't make anything special.Colin runs fast, what else can we say he's really good at though?
I've watched him play his entire NFL career and he has always looked shaky to me. He relied heavily on his legs throughout his career and now that he's having to throw the ball more, he's struggling. Harbaugh used him and went to the Super Bowl and almost won it. To say he failed is a very very poor judgement of what he did. He didn't fail. He did amazing with a QB with a low ceiling.
Yeah thats facts... I think Kaep Sanchezed his way to the super bowl honestly.. That run and that defense led the way, then came playoff time he made some big throws just like mark had done.
In the big picture though, I think he is heading toward Oakland. It just seems fitting. He revived the 49ers as a franchise, they have been the main event in the NFL since he arrived there, and it will be the same with Oakland. Oakland will be the spot in the NFL..... =/
I don't want a guy who lost his players in the middle of them being in the playoff race. Plus why does the 9ers want him gone?
Because he wants to pick the players and the GM wont allow it, thats where the conflict lies. The GM has control, Harbaugh wants control. He is not the reason why the players have been lost, Harbaugh is part of a toxic situation. He has not even talked to his GM in over a year and a half from what I understand. The story came out before the season that Harbaugh was out, so can you blame the players for disconnecting? Wherever Harbaugh goes he will get full control so that will not be an issue if he came here.....
You mean, you don't want a guy who is 43-17 in his career as a head coach and has been to the NFC championship game every year and the super bowl one of those years? Shut the fuck up about him losing players. You're a fuckin moron if you don't want Harbaugh.
Wow your such a tough guy. Let me get this right you want a cry baby coach who complaining because he wants say so in players. Who the fuck does he think brought those players in to help get to that 43-17 record? Hell Rex should be the one who wants more control look at what Idzik gave him to work with.
This. I feel like it's already set in stone that Harbaugh will be coaching either in Jokeland (to appease his wife) or Michigan. Why would he want to come here unless we give him TOTAL control?
During Halftime just now, Schefty just said that the Jets are monitoring the situation with Harbaugh in San Fran.
So tough on a message board. This doesn't matter he going to Oakland. O by the way? Do you think Harbaugh could had gotten this Jet team in the playoffs?
