If that's how it's going to be then I'd say pass. I can't think of a total control coach in the modern salary cap era having sustained success.
Why are the Jets dysfunctional? Bottom line is that they arent good and havent been good for the past 3 seasons. That is due to talent, not due to the narratives that Manish and to a lesser extent Cimini like to perpetuate. Bottom line is that the team needs a QB and a good talent evaluator in addition to coach. I dont know if getting Harbaugh and putting him in charge of everything would even work, as I dont know who Baalke brought in and who Harbaugh brought in.
We are dysfunctional because we fire a GM but then retain him as head of scouting. We fire another GM but then keep the coach and then force the newly hired GM to work with the last GM's coach. These are moves that you won't see anywhere else in professional sports - and certainly not anywhere that has a winning culture. This franchise desperately needs to clean house, hire a sound football man and let him rebuild our organization from the ground up with a high draft pick and a fair amount of cap space.
What about the Eagles. They got rid Reid but kept Roseman. That's just one off the top of my head but I don't think what you say makes a team dysfunctional.
How about a lack of talent on top of playing in a major market with the most fickle fans in the NFL being the cause for dysfunction? I mean seriously, other than Rex's first two teams that Tanny slowly ruined, this team has been completely void of talent at the most important positions on offense. You think Harbaugh would be doing anything with this team?
I don't know that it has to be Harbaugh, but it has to be an offensive coach. Running the ball, playing defense, and winning 17-13 was a great idea once - when Thriller was the top album in America...or back when people knew what an album was at least. Sure we need the talent, but we need the mindset too. For fuck's sake we're THE JETS! Can just once in my life we actually have a fucking aerial attack??!! Shit if Rex had an actual Jet he'd drive it down the Turnpike!! That shit needs to stop. New philosophy, be it Harbaugh's or someone else's, but I can't watch another decade of basically the same damn coach over and over again with different personalities.
Nope. But I think that 50 million in cap space and top 10 draft pick would make the job somewhat attractive.
Why are we so infatuated with this coach? He inhereted an underrated Superbowl roster and hasn't been able to win the big games. Not only that with the talent he has this season his team is underperforming. If he is underperforming with all that talent why would we want him here? If we trade a pick for this guy I'm gonna lose it, not that I haven't already lost it with our team thus far. Plus I'm hearing players don't like him. Yea so let's bring in someone that will make our top players not want to re-sign here
He went to 3 NFC championship games in a row. The team was 6-10 before he got there. Hes going to get credit for going to 11-5 and to the championship game after coming off 6-10. He follows that up with the Super Bowl, and follows that up with the NFC championship game again. If you dont think that is good then I dont know who you'd expect to get.
Good roster but with smith as qb I would not say super bowl. Not sure how many guys would have won a super bowl with that roster...its not like the team norv took over in San diego. In regards to this year's roster, he is doing an OK job, the 49ers did regress and age in many areas imo.
if it was so easy to win with that roster why was his predecessor fired? obviously coaching makes a difference even if you are coaching talented players.
mike singletary was fired for the same reason the coach you want now is going to be fired because of their inability to perform well with the high-level of talent on the roster. The roster is very talented and every year it is either Super Bowl or bust. Yes Harbaugh got to the Super Bowl and all of these NFC championship games but come on were you surprised? is that not supposed to happen when you are strong in every area on the football field. The case can be made that Rex AFC championship runs were much more impressive than anything harbaugh achieved in SF as rex did it with less talent. Harbaugh failed to get his talented team into the playoffs this year and you want him here. Where is the logic in that? Rex was sabotaged by idzik with the talent he has to work with. Harbaugh wasn't. Harbaugh is blessed and could not take advantage of it. He can go kick rocks in Oakland.
No you all are. You all want a coach that has an impressive resume due to what he inherited. He hasn't won shit but you want him. He failed to make the playoffs this year with a rosters full of talent but you all want him. He has friction with players and upper management but you all want him. Please you are a fool and manipulated by his overrated resume. Is Erik spolestra such a great coach because he won 2 rings. No. He had a talented team with 3 superstars and a good supporting cast. I'm more into coaches that do more with less and not easily deceived by coaches that win with talent.
So if Singletary can be fired for the same reason as Rex you are then saying that Harbaugh is perfect to come and take over the Jets. Proving all of the remainder of your argument invalid. Also do we just ignore Harbaugh also turning around Stanford?
Also has currently 7-5 and can very easily still make the playoffs. You sound more and more foolish with each post.
I could be wrong but I don't think anyone saw the niners as a super bowl caliber team when Harbaugh took over. Also, saying Harbaugh can't win big games is stupid IMO.
Rex is in a different situation than mike singletary. Rex is working with terrible talent. Don't call me out you fool. Fuck what harbaugh did in college. What the fuck are you bringing that up to me for. Is that coach in Alabama right now a perfect fit for the NFL well I mean he shit the bed last time in Miami. Just cause you did well in college doesn't mean you'll translate to a great coach at the nfl level.
No one saw the Niners as a Super Bowl caliber team because they underperformed under singletary. He had a Super Bowl roster to work with. Go back and analyze the roster the talent is amazing. And as for harbaugh not winning the big games. He only got to the Super Bowl 1 time. With that talent that is inexcusable. He is overrated.
How was the talent in San Francisco amazing? The team was 6-10 the QB immediately cut down on his turnovers and threw for more yards with Harbaugh as coach. If you can't see that he's a top 5 coach then I can't help you.
