This would be a perfect off-season IMO i agree with everything you have said. I think jameis is going to be a star, I think he would be perfect here... the only thing I would change is I would weight WR and OLine equally in round 2 and take BPA. I really like greene and strong in the second round although I do understand the need in OL, i just think the aboushi will improve mangold is mangold and breno is servicable. I think colon can be replaced in FA and perhaps dozier could contribute. but if we could pick up jameis and greene that would be a "potential coup"
My plan that might or might not be remotely feasible and most people would hate it: Keep Idzik and Rex for one more season. I don't believe Rex deserves to stay, but I also don't think you can keep a GM and fire a HC because you won't be able to hire a coach under a lame duck GM. Most people say fire both. I think Idzik's shortcomings have been vastly overstated. As someone who has not liked his drafts all that much, I saw a lot of people who were totally on board with Milliner, Amaro, Geno, and Pryor. Hindsight is 20/20 at this point and only one of those guys is definitely finished. If you can't judge a draft until 3 years down the road, I don't know how you can judge a GM. And we also just ignore the pick of Richardson, which I guarantee most people were scratching their heads. His biggest mistakes were the WRs obviously, and not one to be ignored. But fired for? Come on. Our fans also are incredibly glass half empty, because they look at every other WR in the draft as a superstar. Some of them are in much better situations, a couple have proven to be very good (and were mostly picked before our pick), and others are Marquise Lee. And I love the argument about how he should have spent the money this year. On what? On overrated CBs to get an extra win maybe? What were you hoping for? Everyone acts like we could have had Peyton Manning and JJ Watt in FA. BECAUSE THAT IS WHAT THIS FAN BASE DOES! I'm very glad he saved a bunch of money for the future. He got us out of our cap hell and set us up very well for either him or the next GM. So that's that. One more year to prove his plan is legit. And by keeping Rex for this season, I'm sorry, but he hitched his wagon to Rex at that point. Next year is the line in the sand. To continue on the coaching front, one thing that stands out is that our young guys never seem to improve. No one really ever improves on this team. Which leads me to the question: what the hell do our positional coaches do all day? Why is Lee throwing Geno under the bus? Why was Vick not prepared when thrown in that one game? Why do the receivers never improve? Why does everyone seem to always make the same mistakes? These guys are a big problem for now and the future if they are just collecting a paycheck. On to the QB... Same thought in that I don't trust our QB coach or for us to just find some magical guru, so I'm not convinced a high end draft pick will succeed here as is. So my Plan A is to see what it takes to get Brock Osweiler from Denver. Risky, without a doubt. But he has all the tools in the world and has been learning how to be a QB from the greatest mind to ever play the game. Quite honestly, I would seriously entertain giving up at least my 2nd rounder for him. I would have said the same about Mallett who I think could be very good in this league now. My Plan B is Mariota, and what was once a distant Plan C but people have convinced me on here otherwise is now much closer to Plan B is Winston. I'm not a believer that guys need to sit to learn, but maybe it's true in this market. Stop gap or not, those are my 3 plans for QB. My opinions are no different on other positions as a lot of others. OLine needs a lot of work and depth. I've always preached that you need 3 things to succeed in the NFL and the first draft pick over the last 15 years proves my point... You need a QB, you need to protect the QB, and you need to rush the QB. So OL and OLB is where this team needs the most improvement after QB. The rest can get worked on in the draft and with lesser known FAs as far as I'm concerned. So there's my garbage plan for next year. Bring on the insults!
"Hi is this Jim Harbaugh? Yeah its Woody Johnson, how would you like to be the head coach of the New York Je-" dial tone "H-Hello?"
Now how do U know what U posted is fact, fact? I am sure Woody does not call U on the daily bases to ask your advice. How do U know that the negative comments on national TV & the newspapers is not having a affect on him? How do U know if the airplane dragging a banner with negative comments about the NYJs is not affecting him to the point that he says no mas & decides the sells? Then there are those billboards. Maybe he is concerned what else us creative NYJ fans will come up with next. Then there is always the unexpected like mortality, accidents etc, etc, etc. So to say/post that he will not sell the team is just BS until he comes out & states that as fact, fact. Gosh who knows if shortly after I post this there is not an announcement that he has sold the team to some other billionaire who wants a man toy to play with
Champ, go check your meds for the expiration date. After all these decades if you truly believe all this negative PR make Woody do anything he doesn't want to? You Sir, are delusional. Look at the facts when you come back down to earth. Woody still owes millions on the Metlife stadium debacle. He's the owner of one of only 32 businesses that exist presently on earth. If you think a few billboards or a plane is gonna make him sell such a rare commodity, you're daydreaming and that ain't healthy. Usually, Owners die and their heirs sell the franchises so if you want Woody to sell, run him over a few times with your Oldsmobile Delta 88 cause that's the only way the Jets will ever be sold. Since this is a free country, you can choose to do whatever you wish but don't expect people to share in your dillusion.
There is way too much smoke regarding the Harbaugh situation for it to be completely false. There has to be some truth to him being gone after the season. If he is let go...or if the 49ers are willing to a Gruden-like swap for cash and draft picks...then the Jets have to do whatever it takes to get him. $10 million a year? Go right ahead. Full control? Give it to him. He has proven himself to be a legit top head coach, right from the get go. I agree with cleaning house. I love Rex, and I believe he will be successful elsewhere, but his time here is done. The scouting dept. is garbage and most of the coaching staff is subpar. Other than the D-line, no one else improves, or they regress.
Champs been a fan longer than most of have been alive He's earned the right to be the pessimist he is, even as delusional as he may sound at times. Champ has seen some shit.
I can totally see champ driving around in an Oldsmobile Delta 88. Doing 37 mph in the left lane with his right blinker on.
You never know what may affect someone so again there is no way U or anybody else can with total assurance say that 100% Woody will not sell the team & that was the point I was making with my post. Also just because you are the ADMIN there is no reason to belittle me for my age. I expect you to ban yourself & all the others who follow your lead in belittling me
I'm belittling you because you're delusional on top of a lot of other things. This had nothing to do with me being an Admin. I would have blasted your delusional post if I wasn't. If you're expecting me to ban myself over this, you truly do need to check your meds and stop mixing them too. Look, you may have been a Jet fan since grass was invented but after all these years, your mental state seems to have taken a huge hit. Too much losing would be my guess. Every year you post the same shit. Every year we get to read just how bad things are if we don't win the SB. Yanno what? I've let this go for too damn long and today it ends. You want to post batshit crazy stuff? Knock yourself out but when you take incoming for your delusional postings? Don't come crying to me. At some point you will cross over into Troll territory and when that happens, you'll get time off. A lot of it. In case you're wondering, this is not a threat, its a promise. Champ? for your own good, read what you post more carefully.
1. Fire Rex 2. Stay far away from the nut job Harbaugh 3. Hire a coach that knows discipline and can lay the hammer down 4. Sign the best available QB in the FA 5. Sign a guard in the FA 6. Sign a veteran CB in the FA 5. Get Mariota and make him sit 6. If Mariota isn't available go OL 7. Draft QB in the mid rounds (If we miss out on Mariota) 8. Draft a pass rushing OLB
I would fire everyone, I mean everyone but the D-Line coach Dunbar. The next head coach has to be offensive minded. If I ever see hear the word "Wildcat", I will puke. The JETS have been so predictable and non-creative on offense it just baffles me. The JETS need to be running more of a uptempo offense with a zone blocking scheme and still be able to pound the ball when they get in the red-zone. Get rid of the non-playmakers...Pace, Landry, Wilson, Antwan Barnes, Colon, and Vick. The JETS should resign Harris and get D'Brick to restructure his deal for even more cap space. They should make a effort to go after some of the top #1 WRs that will be available during free agency. The JETS have the cap space and should get a CB and a FS that are in the prime of their careers since they have Milliner and McDougle coming back from injury and Pryor should move over to the SS. The JETS have the deepest D-Line and should be running more of a Nickel to 4-3 defense. Coples should not be standing up and jamming guys at the line of scrimmage ever again. Wilkerson, Richardson, Harrison, and Coples should all have their hands in the turf rushing the passer every play with Douzable, TJ Barnes, Babin, Ellis, IK, and Reilly rotating in and out getting some reps. Address the OFFENSE for once in the DRAFT and early!!! The JETS don't have a #1 WR or a franchise QB. They have to be able to leave the DRAFT with both of these spots being addressed. The three players I would have to find a way of drafting would be Amari Cooper, Melvin Gordon, and Bryce Petty. These three players would give the JETS a building block for their offense for years to come. Do not, I mean do not, draft a player in the first three rounds that is considered a project or the JETS think can transition from playing one position to another for example Vlad Ducasse from OT to OG and Brian Winters from OT to OG that doesn't work. And if they somehow ever have 12 draft picks they better use some of the picks to trade up and get a top quality player. The secondary hasn't been that horrific. I don't know why Rex just couldn't leave AA at safety from the beginning. Marcus Williams has been a good find but Rex doesn't do his corners any justice of only leaving one safety in the middle of the field and putting his corners on an island with the WR's when the one safety is always taking a bad angle or too late to make a play on the ball and the other safety is at the line of scrimmage about to blitz or defending the slot receiver trying to jam him at the line. The only game this year that the secondary has performed well for most of the game was against the Steelers since Rex decided to use two deep safeties for once which he should have been doing all year long. I have never seen a group of DBs that just do not break on the ball, I don't know if that is coaching or lack of play-making ability. As long as the right football minded people get hired by Woody Johnson, the JETS will be trending up.
