I know this has been yaked about incessantly...and I didn't feel like digging for the thread...so I place a new one here. Who do we start at QB the rest of the way? To be honest...I know what we have in Geno. I know we have a career backup there. I know what we have in Vick...that is...if he's healthy. If Vick is healthy we go with him. If he is not then I suggest we start Simms, as long as he's healthy, the rest of the way just to see what we have in the young man. Again, all predicated on Vick being healthy or not. Like I said...we KNOW what we have in Geno...
With Simms we are guaranteed someone who will prepare and try to the best of one's ability. This cannot be said of the other 2. We also need to know if he is a legitimate backup or not. This said, I doubt Rex will give him a start and he would rather have another game like Buff. Hence why I hate Rex at this point.
Matt Simms. You either get a great draft pick or you find a diamond in the rough. Starting Geno is useless and Vick played like he was thinking about what island to spend vacation on. It's a useless argument, though, because we're going to be watching that fucking idiot Geno suck for 5 games.
I am glad this thread was put up here. It is perhaps a bit early since we are still doing Bills game post mortems. But it is one of the main questions going forward. I felt very different before last night, but i have to take new evidence into account. The fact is Vick showed nothing to build upon going forward last night. I don't see dependin on him for anything after this season is over. He looked old, fragile, and did not lead the team. Next year would be better? I think not. Smith? Smith? Really??? We've not seen enough of htat clown? At least the Jets could benefit figuring out where Simms might be in their future. Is he just a place holder this and last season, or does he have any upside at all, even if only as a backup? Where's the downside to finding out? There is none. Play Simms and stick with him through the end of the season.
Doesn't really matter. Geno might turn it over more but at least he's younger and can still develop his game. Vick is an old QB collecting his 2nd to last paycheck from the NFL. Simms might get his chance if he's worth it if Vick/Geno continue failing but he hasn't been in the starting conversation for a reason. I'd rather see Geno get the next start, he wasn't awful in relief and he has the best chance of being on this team next year. I'm confident he's better than Vick and Simms. Vick might be able to show flashes times to time but last night really proved how much of a shell of his former self he is.
I voted Simms...trade the other two dogs for a punter, which christ knows we'll be doing a lot of these last 5 games. I couldn't give a shit about either of them
Yep. Why the hell not? What's there to lose? Why wouldn't a team want to evaluate every possible option at such an important position? But having said that, I'm quite confident this pathetic franchise won't do that
This is where the owner needs to do anything he can to maintain fan focus the rest of the way. The only way I see doing that is by evaluating the roster and giving players a shot to show they can contribute next year. But unfortunately Ryan and Iz-dick aren't thinking about next year's roster. Starting Simms should be a no-brainer. I really don't want to see Vick play any longer, he has checked out and will be a journeyman somewhere else next year. And if the Jets have any plans whatsoever for Geno, they should sit his ass and have him refocus and recenter. He needs to mature. Simms will at least bring some fan interest and needs to be evaluated in a live environment. Give the kid a shot for chriss sakes! As for the RB's, they should limit Ivory. He should be the lead back for the Jets next year and you don't want him injured in the final stretch. Give the reps to CJ and Powell. The WR's and TE's need to stay healthy as well but other than TJ Graham no one to really evaluate. The O-line, get bull Dozier some reps. But otherwise try to keep the OL in place for Simms.
Confident??? Really??? Based on what? Smith has been given more than his share of opportunities. He flat out sucks, and if he's the future of this franchise, they might as well turn it into a semi-pro team.
He's by no means the future of the franchise but someone has to start next year.. If we take an Elite Talent like Cooper or Gregory in the draft, which might be the right move depending on how the QBs grade out..we might get stuck with no solid option next year either. Completely underwhelming FA class of QBs. Unless you want to pay Hoyer 8-10 million a year, we're still stuck with a below average QB. Best options on the market are McCoy, Sanchez, Davis/Hill, etc. Only slightly better options we could explore are Bradford if cut and Jake Locker...maybe a trade for Foles but he's not the franchise guy either. The thought of those guys or Geno starting next year makes me pray we find our Franchise QB this offseason but the odds of it are very low. I'm not going to run Geno out of town..I'd rather hold out some hope he can still develop and maybe click with the next coaching staff.
Count me in for Simms but really how badly does this kid look in practice to not even get a look with the dogshit we have at QB?
Geno/Enunwa/IK/Dozier Let them all play, whats the worst that can happen? We win games and hurt our draft pick, and thats unlikely.
Need to let Geno go so you can really see if he's gonna make it or not. He played great vs the fins last year...
