Or... and just stay with me here for a second... They have only three healthy RBs with any real NFL experience on the roster right now. (And one of them had no experience about a month ago.)
You realize how much money he lost? Went from almost $4mil for two years to minimum salary for two years if he keeps his nose clean. Why should other teams help make a player pay for acting up with another team? He didn't shootanybody, he just walked off the field early.
That sounds like a plausible reason, however given the recent history of the New England Patriots and the known lengths to which their management is willing to film for other team information. It seems highly likely Blounts most lucrative asset to the Patriots is any information that he could offer on the Steelers.
I'd argue, but it's pointless. You really think Blount has any info on the Steelers that BB doesn't already know. They're gonna pay him for the rest of this year for a little info on a team they may or may not see in the playoffs. You're the one who sounds like a fool!
Didn't he play for the Patriots last season? Seems like a reasonable pickup considering the no-names they have in the backfield. Surprised the Colts didn't bite.
Obviously it IS a deal breaker in NE. They lost a bunch of cash dropping Hernandez the day the charges came out.
It sets a bad precedent though. And he's not going to starve all of the sudden. Players with Blount's smarts arent going to think about the financial aspects of things until afterwards anyways.
Sign that beast! Interesting - I didn't know there were restrictions on going into the practice squad for veterans. Blount was probably cut for not being needed as much as for being petulant. I think Blount was picked up by NE because of what he knows. About the Patriots. He is familiar with the system, and has been productive in it. At the time he left NE made noises about being sad he left. I hope for his sake he keeps his nose clean. We'll see if he's capable of learning....
He ran for 930 yards and 11 touchdowns for the Patriot's who he was with less than a year ago and you think the most plausible reason he was brought into the team is for information against a team that there is more of a chance they won't see than a chance they will? A team that, if they miss the playoffs, which isn't hard to imagine, the soonest they can meet again is January 2016? Yeah, that's more likely than their starting RB is playing in his 5th game this week, signed off the practice squad in October, and is one of 2 players at the position under contract leading into 2015 prior to the Blount 2 year pact.
It's crazy that Hernandez was committing crimes for years with the Pats, and nobody noticed. Got to get that W, whatever it takes
Blount died in Pittsburg and went to heaven in Foxboro. The smartest dumb thing he ever did....Two rushing TD's, 4 days later, on a team that has a better chance to go to the Super Bowl than any other.
