Francesa is great for a few reasons, not all of them are intentional. His lunatic ego combined with his intolerance for foolishness makes even the worst prank calls entertaining and the good ones that much better. Listening to him try and stammer and stutter his way through insulting a guy who asked him if he heard the rumor that Manti Teo's father was a also a "bone smuggler" from Hawaii was one of the greatest moments on the show. His willingness to berate the dullards that listen and call his show is probably the best part though. That or the awkwardness when he has a "respected" guy he's disagreeing with on the phone or in studio and he can't just filibuster and shout over them like he does the callers. When he's actually discussing sports it's pretty dire, but that's true of all sports radio. Francesa is just the only sports talk show that isn't entirely composed of this nonsense.
