Is Geno on the team next season?...What do you think goes down?

Everyone is saying we need another QB from the draft or via free agency. Regardless of Vick returning or not is Geno still on the team?

In my mind not a chance. I think around draft time he'll get traded for a 5th-6th rounder.

Unless Vick goes down soon and Geno comes in and plays well , there is no way you can sell him as even a 3rd stringer here.

You think we're going to actually cut a 3rd year Qb on his rookie deal?

Of course he's on this team next year. He probably won't start but there's no chance that he gets cut; Qbs with any shred of potential are worth a lot in this league. Geno might not have any potential whatsoever but he's a cheap player drafted in the 2nd round who happens to play in the most important position position in the game.

Worst case scenario? We sign a veteran Qb, we draft Mariota in the first round, and Geno becomes our 3rd stringer.

I can't see a scenario in which Geno is cut unless both Idzik and Rex are fired and the new management wants to cut all ties, but that's pretty unlikely. Also, if Idzik is around he just won't do it.

It's what I am thinking too...But Geno as a 3rd stringer, damn thats a huge blow to a ego...However at the end of the day it doesnt matter because his contract isnt that big.

3rd stringer at best next season. Will battle Matt Simms for final QB spot.

Will it be a competition or will he simply be handed the 3rd string position?

he might also be traded, or lose his roster spot in a competition with Simms which at this point I think would happen in a fair competition.

Well under any condition they will make sure Matt Simms doesn't see the field so I would assume Geno will be handed the 3rd string position.

I think we should appoint him as the unquestioned starter for about 8 weeks so we can see what we have.

The Jets should never draft a Qb again. We have no idea how to develop the position. Veterans only.

The dude may already have elite accuracy, of course he'll be on the team.

    Are you crazy?

Are you forgetting those awesome last 4 games of 2013?

Second rated QB behind PEYTON FREAKING MANNING over that span. I'm thinking he plays the last 4 games this year, again throws for under 200 yards a game but because he doesn't turn it over like the Bills game, he gets a pass.

We just need to put some weapons around him.

Fuck Marcus Mariota and his superior football IQ, give me more Geno.

    HELL FUCKING NO.

If they canned him yesterday, that's a full year and half too late.

If we continue to roll with only 2 QB's, I dont see how.

He isnt a solid veteran, nor is he a rookie with with a high ceiling. He'll be traded for a conditional 5th or 6th, or put on the practice squad and signed by someone else.

    Why wouldn't he be?

He's inexpensive there is no reason to get rid of him. At the very least he's a cheap young backup with experience starting.
