I'm not looking at what it will do for the Jets, but rather what it will do for Woody. Rex leaving without fixing anything makes it easy for the Jets to sell their next head coach to prospective ticket holders. If Rex has a glorious last six weeks or so it will create more controversy over who was to blame and who should be fired and who should be hired, etc. Especially if the Jets retain Idzik, who has already lost a solid majority of the fan base.
good organizations don't make decisions based on how their fanbase feels about players/coaches/execs. I wish the giants did it b/c they would have gotten rid of Eli & Coughlin before they won 2 SBs. the fact that Jet fans want Idzik gone makes me want him b/c when the majority of this terrible fanbase agree it's usually bad news.
Last I checked Woody Johnson owns this team, I think we all have an idea of what type of organization we are.
What if they chose someone from outside. Now that would be a shocker. My candidate: Marty Schottenheimer. Maybe these guys would play for him. It's not going to happen, I know. Rex won't get fired on Monday, but if he did another Marty would probably get the interim job. I'd take the senior Scotty and give him a 3 year deal.
Great point but every week that goes by, it becomes more clear Idzik has to go. He has played a part in the Jets' failures. Rex has to be fired, but Idzik could be more to blame than him.
Can we fire Dennis Thurman and Sanjay Lal too? Only WR to show up is Decker and now Harvin...everyone else has regressed
I totally agree, but experience suggests logic isn't always the prevailing decision maker when it comes to this team.
