Sadly, you are a lost fan. You provided no argument to why Simms would play worse than Vick (3 TO's last week...10 points this week) other than "Have you seen Simms play? Really, no. Has he gotten a fair chance? Vick, as an oft injured 34 year old and Gno as a 1.5 year TO machine, I've seen enough. I've said, I doubt Simms is the answer. That being said, We know Smith and Vick are not. Coaches want to keep their jobs. As a fan, I don't care. I don't pay their salaries. I guess you are pkay with coaches forcing lost causes out there. You see UK, I don't want the team to lose more. I want them, in a 1-8 year, to prep as best as they can for the future. YOUR QUOTE: "As much as fans may want the team to lose to force regime change/better draft picks, it doesn't work like that for the team who funnily enough want to keep their jobs" I guess we should keep playing bad players because the coaches want to keep their jobs.
And he will be just another losing Jets coach...10 games under .500 at this rate...he was fools gold....that 2009 season was a gift from the colts when they benched Manning...2010 saw very fortunate wins against Texans, Browns, Lions.....not taking anything away from those road playoffs wins in 09 and 10....but overall he's been overrated...a funny likable good defensive coach but no more than that....and all the nonsense off the field since he's been here ...
you are missing the point - you were arguing that the smart thing would have been to play Simms rather than put Vick back in - if you think that Simms gave us a better chance of winning than Vick then you have your view and I have mine - but you cannot fault the coaching staff for wanting to play the player that they think gave the team the best chance - sure I can see that as fans we might prefer them to play Simms to see what he has for the future but the coaches and the team are not that altruistic - they want to win now which we might not like but which is understandable from their perspective and again, its bizarre to argue that the problems with this team are solely down to coaching or that a different coach would somehow turn this team into winners - we are an NFL caliber QB (and a couple of CBs) away from being competitive regardless of who the coach is I have no idea what you mean by "you are OK with coaches forcing lost causes out there" - weirdly I would like the team to actually win something during my lifetime, so no, I would prefer that they put out a competitive team but that seem to be beyond them - and its a franchise wide problem as I see it - not a one man problem
Vick had a mild concussion? If so, how can putting him back in be justified? http://www.nydailynews.com/blogs/je...s-24-10-instant-analysis-blog-entry-1.1996523
I'm not sold on Rex being any bit of a good of a coach anymore. All of the junk that we looked past when the team was doing well are still showing their ugly face. That said, this team is complete and utter garbage. I don't care who's coach, they wouldn't get much more from this group of scrubs. Rex hasn't actually had a QB worth a crap since he's been here. I honestly can't put all of the blame on Rex for this season, but of course he's also responsible in that he should have a pretty large say in the personnel. The high picks in the draft have his marks all over them. It's unacceptable to see how the talent on this team has deteriorated and haven't been replaced by good players in the draft. The scouts obviously are A #1 to blame there, but the Rex factor is definitely involved.

Fools gold is a good one and I agree Guy stepped in shit in 2009 and 2010 Even I knew, as it was happening, that it wasn't long term. It was streaky freak stuff
Agreed. I'm all in to think that we need a QB via FA or the Draft to compete with Geno next year. If you want to prep as best you can for the future...you play Geno once healthy. Look at Alex Smith, heck, even Sanchez, sometimes, things just click for guys.
If this front office had a gut in their body, Rex would be gone next Monday morning. I for one hope it happens. The sonofabitch doesn't deserve to finish out the year...and he can take Geno with him
I'll take completely biased for 500. What do you want to do? Start a 34 year old QB to build for the future? Start Matt Simms, who hasn't been able to beat out Sanchez, or Geno, or anyone else. I'm sure he's such a savior in disguise.. Hence why nobody signed him off our practice squad. Not even the Rams when they lost their top 2 QBs to injury.
Pouring one out for Rex. 4 playoff wins which is sadly double anyone in Jets history. He came in and took the league by storm and made us feel we'd win a Super Bowl one day with him. It didn't work out due to never having consistent play at QB and diminishing talent each year, but the Rex Ryan era was a success. I hate to see him go but it's best for all directions, including himself. I hope for him he lands the ATL job, if he fixes that defense up and they get some O-line help, they can be immediate Super Bowl contenders. If he takes time off he's walking into ESPN or CBS next year as one of the most entertaining personalities on television.
Atlanta with Matty Ice was one possession from Super Bowl couple years back, so it's not like he is building the next great pyramid if they get better with him....
Not fair? His inability to assess talent is exactly why he should be fired. He did his job and fixed the cap, so now we can move on to someone who can bring in good players.
If you get rid of him then you'll be sparing him those sad press conferences. This is like the end of Old Yeller.
