Everybody wanted to rebuild well here it is. It isn't pretty. Some moves will work some won't. It's about evaluation. But either way Idzik wasn't going to say anything ground breaking today. Nor did I expect him to.
THANK YOU!! You hit it on the head, you wanted a complete rebuild and it's here, now you get mad it's not working as of yet...it may never work, or it may work, but you can't cry only a year + into this. and believe it or not, IF Rex does return, it tells you all you need to know about how Izdik felt he has done constructing this team for Rex. Because if he felt it was a good job and it was more coaching, then he would be gone. No press conference or amount of "grilling" coming from any media outlet can tell you. Funny thing is, Izdik is coming under MUCH more fire than Rex, and it seems as if Rex is now a sympathetic figure out of all of this.
Rex and Idzik share similar beliefs as far as how they want to build the team. That's why Rex was retained. Idzik has cap flexibility to resign worthy players (Kerley, Wilkerson, etc) and to go get free agents. It's simply way too soon to judge Idzik.
Our GM is the Joe Biden of the NFL. Every time he speaks he keeps proving the point that he's clueless.
It's all well and good to say "stay home and send a message" and I would agree with you on that point, but season ticket holders are paid in full and the $ is already in Woody's pocket. Now we've also been screwed to the point where we can't even sell our tickets because they are fu$king like credit cards and need to be used the entire season. What I'd love to do the rest of the way is sell our tickets to the opposing teams fans. Let Woody see the stadium filled with Tom Brady jerseys or better yet on Monday night before Christmas, let the stadium be filled with the hideous teal and orange of the Miami Dolfags. Maybe that'll send a message.
The only thing to do (once the money is spent) is to embarrass Woody as much as possible on television while inside the stadium. And it needs to be Woody personally, not just the franchise; Woody couldn't care less if the team is embarrassing, but he might care about being personally embarrassed. Some owners care about being mocked, other's don't (like Dolan).
No it isn't too soon to judge Idzik. He had 19 draft picks and has selected 2 impact players. His FA signings have been pitiful. About the only thing he's done well so far is save money. He's an absolute joke.
Idzik even said today that his performance was unsatisfactory. People just don't get four years leeway to do what they want. Our team could easily get worse if we have another bad draft and our pockets of strength get a year older.
LOLOL at the "rebuild" idea. ANYBODY on this forum could have allowed those contracts to expire and not spent any money. A rebuild is what Jim Harbaugh did in SF, Pete Carroll did in Seattle, Pagano did in Indy, Andy Reid did in KC, Chip Kelly did in Philly. Idzik took over a 7-9 team that currently had 25 mil to spend, and in two years spent no money and the team is 1-7 now. His drafting and FA signings have set the franchise backwards, not rebuilt it. No QB, no DBs, porous OL, no LBs, and a still questionable skill position core is not rebuilding. It's being a poorly run team, like Oakland and Miami and Tampa and Jville and on and on and on.
I remember fans in front of the owners box turning and cursing and flipping off Leon Hess every time the jets fucked up on the field. I felt sorry for the old fugger.
