I agree that the refs have been terrible and have really been bad against this team, but last night there was nothing they did that changed the outcome of the game. Calls were fair and split on both teams. There was no holding on Amaro on the 2 point conversion, as many try and claim, and what the ref did on the FG was what was supposed to be done.

This game was not on the refs.

Where's the thread on the Nelson non-catch that put the jets in position for a fg in the first place, that the booth never bothered to review.

Shit happens all the time. The conspiracy stuff is so old.

There were several bad calls on both sides last night. Some really stupid holding/PI calls. The refs are very frustrating this year but it's certainly not something specific against the Jets.

Some Jet fans only see the calls that go against us or don't get made on our opponent.

Even when you hit them over the head with the legit reasoning (i.e., the infamous time out call or this call), they still bitch and whine.

    Read the article you posted

"In #Jets #Pats game that is a standard officiating mechanic. No different than pointing out LOS to wideout."

Point I was making is that refs also help players line-up correctly on plays that are not only kicks to avoid penalties. Like when a WR is not lined up correctly on a hypothetical regular second down play.
    -----------------------------------------

Cause Refs and the NFL are just as concerned getting a regular holding call right as they are with plays like the Fail Mary and Brady tuck pass correct. The importance of the situation totalllllllly doesn't matter.

And the NFL bringing back the regular officials after the botched Fail Mary play. Pure coincidence right?? Had nothing to do with the fact that a botched call occurred on a game deciding play??

Bullshit, that's not what you were talking about. We're talking about THIS INSTANCE--moving a defender OFF of the center on KICKING PLAYS for PLAYER SAFETY REASONS. So that Centers with their heads between their legs don't get CRUSHED.

You can talk all you want about other procedural things refs do that you don't agree with--but in THIS INSTANCE, the very PURPOSE of your thread, is to bitch and whine about something that is completely standard across the league.

Read and understand and then remove your head from that brick wall.

I've seen this happen in other games also. Aggravating because Jets obviously would have benefited from a penalty there but the precedence is there for refs to help players out during these type of plays. Even now, the original article has been updated to include this fact.

    Should have been reviewed,

Don't think it would have been overturned. He never lost possession on the hit.

So you're saying the OPs whining was ill-advised?

anyways, nfl coming out and saying this is not unusual, then how come they don't say anything during illegal formation on O in general?

I just watched the play again. He was never going to line up over the center anyway. He came up a couple of yards from the line in his job as signal caller on special teams. Whatever he said, the rest of the line shifted. He wasn't even part of the block group. He and one other LB were backing off at the snap for coverage.

    Much ado about nothing.

Already a thread on this that totally explains this--how it's standard procedure done for safety reasons.

The NFL does not want centers with their heads between their legs on kicking plays to get drilled and concussed.

Refs instruct the player and will physically move the player and only call a penalty if the player does not comply.

    Not a Patriot conspiracy.

Watch the play....the whole pats line shifted prior to the snap. So this whole the ref moved him has no effect, Hightower even looks like he was annoyed the ref grabbed his arm as he was about to move anyway.

It was a "make good" on a non-call right before the half.

This late hit on Brady could have easily ended his career.

    Don't be so flippant.

    Douzable nearly killed him.
He can expect a hefty fine and IMO should be suspended for at least 4 games.

I don't know if you realize that Tom Brady is married to a super model and that he's very good looking.

If they're so worried about protecting the center then make it a pre-snap penalty. Don't line up over the center on field goals at any time, period. Why leave it up to the refs to rush and potentially put themselves out of position when the ball is being snapped?
