It is because people like you are feeding right into what this guy does when there are better guys to follow that cover the Jets. Its just frustrating, why limit yourself? What he means is the media likes to overblow things to a pedestal and takes something said and makes a spectacle of it. Not the first, not the last to say something like this. He's blamed himself many times throughout his Jets tenure, accountability is not a problem with the kid. He just needs to make it count on the field. http://www.patriots.com/media-cente...rovement/362342e5-cdb5-461e-9aad-a25243b911c2 Notice the mentioning of "WE" "We as a team"? Of course Cimini and Manish cutoff what he said at the very end, so typical. He spoke of not just him but the team and how they are portrayed by the media. He held himself accountable as far as hanging in the pocket goes in the very next question but of course shotty coverage by Manish and Cimini.
There's another article I posted with a more in depth look at the call. It's not Mehta. The point is, Geno doesn't feel his season his been bad and is blaming the media for misinterpreting and misunderstanding things. How has the media done that? Did he or did he not say fuck you to a fan? Did he or did he not miss a team meeting? Did he or did he not throw an INT every game this year? Is he or is he not the worst rated QB in the NFL? Yet here he thinks it hasn't been bad. Really?
Manish is a fucking dumbass. Geno didn't "blame" the media for his poor play, he said that they exaggerate everything. Case in point: manish making up a radical headline then ranting to gain attention. Geno has been taking full responsibility for sucking, he's not "blaming" reporters for what goes on between the lines.
The Jets are a 5 alarm fire burning out of control right now , and the media are like sharks in the ocean smelling blood. Geno needs someone to tell him to stick to football when answering questions instead of fueling the firestorm that's raging in Florham Park .
He's saying the media has escalated stuff like cursing out a fan and the meeting miss and taken those as stories and ran with it, which are true. Now, I agree he can't put himself in those positions....but the NY Daily News had Geno Smith missing a team meeting as the FRONT PAGE of their sports section in the back(As JStokes posted in the other thread). The media has ran with these stories and then some. But he's held himself accountable in regards to the pocket(He's being too nice and kind to the OLine, they have not given him a clean pocket if at all) the very next question and has held himself accountable for his mistakes. He should not feel he's been utter shit this season because as an athlete, you have to keep a clear mind and not dwell on the mistakes. You have to keep positive no matter the record or how grim your stats have been this year. If Geno Smith says he doesn't belong in the NFL or as a starter.....well we would have a problem.
The fact that they're all using the word "blame", a word that never came out of Genos mouth, is ridiculous and epitomizes this stupid Era of writers inflating everything to get people to listen to their irrelevant voices
Geno is going to learn you don't go after the NY media. Also kind of funny he mentions this to the NE media, the ones that tries to throw dirt on every Red Sox person on their way out of the team
