I agree, we needed weapons in the worst way. Instead we took a 2nd rd QB who the GM wanted to start and that 2nd rd QB had no one to throw to and it stunted his development. now we have some weapons that haven't stayed healthy and he is regressing.
I wonder why the Jets are afraid to draft proven college receivers like Keenan Allen or Jordan Matthews. Yet they are willing to spend a 2nd on a player like Stephen Hill. I just don't understand what these scouts are thinking ... is potential weighed THAT much at the NFL level? That potential over weighs their ability to run routes and catch balls? I really just don't get it.
This really doesn't tell us anything about Geno that we didn't already know. Some guys are more immature than others. Yet that isn't the end-all, be-all indicator if the guy can be a good player or not. Others who have slid have acted like babies on draft night too so I can't hold that against Geno too much. He just flat out is not a starting caliber NFL QB at this point, bottom line.
Since Sanchez's shoulder was a ticking time bomb, wasn't it a good move in hindsight to draft a QB last year?
He's so bad it's comical. His shit is made for the masses who just want to digest more bullshit. As if ESPN didn't spoonfeed them enough of it
This is total speculation and there is no way of knowing but if we were to be able to go back, keep Sanchez, and stock our team with some more OFFENSIVE talent we would be in a much better position than we are now....of course hind sight being what it is....
Neither Geno or Sanchez have the maturity to be a starting NFL QB. Why is QB such an important job? It goes way beyond just throwing. You need to be smart. You need to study a lot if you want to win. You have to work long and hard in practice...everyday - not just once a month. You have to devote your life to being a great QB and work hard towards that goal. And you have to be an adult about it. I am sick of being stuck with immature lazy QBs who feel entitled despite their mediocrity. QB’s are not the crap shoot every is saying. You pick one that has some talent and a deep dedication to becoming great. It starts with the attitude and work ethic. Talent is secondary.
I'm not sure folks should be questioning his filmwork or work ethic, just like no one should have questioned Sanchez's. It's the ability to retain what you are watching or studying and putting it into game situations where the difference lies. _
What was Sanchez’s success here? Being the weak link that kept us out of the SB? Being consistently ranked 29th or lower in every meaningful QB stat while still being a mediocre game manager who consistently turned the ball over? Or maybe it was the OC or the OL or Rex or every other excuse that was made for why Sanchez was the same awful QB every year he played for us? We had success in spite of Sanchez not because of him. Half the backups on the league would have won the SB with us in 2010. But out starter was worse than half the backups in the league.
yes b/c so many teams have won 4 road playoff games and made back to back title games w/ bad QBs. Obviously we had the '85 Bears around the QB but Mark held us back. you may be able to win a game or even 2 w/ poor QB play but you don't win consistently which we did. Your last sentence is so ignorant it's not even worth responding too. I feel embarrassed for having read it.
This is the stupidest thing I have read in awhile. Sanchez was a drive away from sending the Jets to the Super Bowl in 2010. The defense blew it. Do you watch football?
The team blew it. Not just Sanchez, not just the defense. You can't say we lost because the defense gave up that 1st down at the end.
the team did blow it, we had a really good team including the QB but the D didn't give the O one last chance. we may not have scored, it would have been difficult against Pitt but it would have been fun to have the chance. Big time D's give their O that chance.
You are right. That other guy blamed Sanchez for the loss and said a back-up QB would have done better. I was just pointing out that is ridiculous to say.
The team blew it. That's it. If you're putting this loss on the defense for not getting that one stop then you're being unreasonable. The offense had plenty of chances to score. Pittsburgh went scoreless in that 2nd half.
