Its Dan Quinn Seahawks DC Its always been Dan Quinn Defense will transition seamlessly to his scheme which will mask certain weaknesses
Yes, Gruden and Idzik have a SuperBowl ring together from Tampa. However, Gruden eventually forced most of the FO from the Dungy years out including Idzik. I wouldn't mind history repeating itself.
I'll admit to being a Rex lover. I've never thought he's perfect but I did think that with the right staff around him and a good(ish) QB he could have got us where we all want to be. That said, the same flaws continue to rear their head time after time - and it basically comes down to lack of discipline. It's become endemic and I don't think it will ever be fixed with Rex at the helm. Truthfully, I'm beginning to think that Rex doesn't even see it as a that much of a problem because he wants his players aggressive, physical and on the edge of being out of control all the time. He's going to get to the end of the season and will probably get us 5-7 wins - you know just enough to stop us getting a really good draft pick, which in itself might be hurting rather than helping long-term. But for me to continue supporting Rex its not about W/L or making playoffs. I've got to see improvement in all those little details. I want to see us looking professional and organised, particularly on offense. I don't think this is going to happen. Think I've just been turned to the dark side...
not a Rex fan. I do not scream for his dismissal but if he goes, he goes. however, the talent difference, especially at skill positions, was really clear out there yesterday. the thing that drives me the craziest is the procedure penalties, the 12 men on the fields, those little things. They always seem to happen when we are moving the ball, although yesterday we did not move the ball at any time. and it is our veteran players who are guilty of a lot of it. I have always maintained that Rex is a DC in HC's clothing. And I know this does not sound sane, but he comes across as immature to me. However, he is the coach and I root for him. I thought they should have let the new GM pick his coach AND his OC, but the Jets chose not to do that. I think Rex may have sealed his fate yesterday. It will be hard for Woody to shake the embarrassment of this game. I thought Rex could have come back next year with even a 7-9 record if the QB improved. I never expected a blowout like this though. There is an excellent chance another one is coming soon.
I throw a realistic name in the ring. Frank Reich, former QB, current O-coordinator for SD. He was Manning's QB coach in Indy. Rivers' QB coach last year when he had a fantastic year. Now he's doing an excellent job as coordinator- his game plan was flawless yesterday. He's the type of coach to come here that could get the most out of the QB position.. something this team hasn't had in a long, long time.
There is no doubt that change is coming, When its going to happen I am not sure. Maybe after the break. Maybe at the end of the year. But to have 9 to 10 penalties a game is just awful and it seems Rex may have lost this team. If you saw his Post Game speech I hope you all recorded it cause you will hear the same Speech after the Denver game.
Root for the Browns to make a playoff run with Hoyer and maybe they will decide they want him long term and Manziel becomes expendable. Fire Rex and Idzik. Hire Sumlin as HC and make a trade to pair him back up with Manziel. (ok- I already laid out my realistic hire- this is the pie-in-the-sky reach that gets me through my monday)
