Vick is old trash. Simms is a career backup at best. When Eric Decker is your #1 WR there are issues at the position. Dude is a #2 at best. Also, why is Ivory in there in pass catching situations? Dude has stone hands.
Screw Mariota and Winston. If we bring them in here with these receivers they will look just like Geno. This is now 2 QB's in a row looking like this for the Jets. That points to an issue beyond QB, whether Jet fans want to admit it or not. Amari Cooper. That is who we need. The guy is a stud and looks even better then Julio Jones did in college.
welp - I am pretty much done for this season - there is just no enjoyment to be had watching these games or following the team at the moment - please wake me up when its time for the draft
Vick is way better than Geno. Was always the case. But we had to see what we had in Geno. We all understood that. Where is the heat on Idzik for his catastrophe of an offseason though! How can we once again have the worst WR corp in the league? Nelson is a retread! After he had all that cap space and 12 draft picks to work with!! And not only do we have no WRs capable of beating one on one coverage (except at times Kerley) but he went and added to it by putting together the worst CB squad in the league. Couldn't he have at least traded up once to get a WR with talent?!? Or how about an outside pass rusher?!? Our off season doomed our season. Too bad because our DL may never be better.
He called an awful game. He went ultra conservative in the 1st half which got us in a 14 point hole, and then opened it up in the 2nd, but by then it was too late. The Lions knew at that point we had to throw, most QB's look horrible when that situation comes up. Go look at Jay Cutler today.
Open your eyes Geno isn't cutting it. If we suck, bring in Mariota, Daryl Bevel, and a WR in the second round.
We don't have a good QB on our active roster. Is Simms the answer? No. Vick ins't going to solve anything.
I'm not at all upset with what Geno had on the field today. Decker, Kerley, Salas performed well, Amaro looks decent, Ivory running well.
Meanwhile in TB some random kid off the street catches a huge 40 yard pass and we've got Jalen Saunders !!!!
In my mind this isn't much of a decision at this point. I dont think Geno is the only problem on offense. But the offense needs to be shaken up if the Jets want any shot of having a season. Geno needs to sit down and watch from the sidelines for a while. It's what's best for him and the team at this point. He's not the reason we lost today but his play did not help us. This is why you have a guy like Vick on your roster. He should have opened up the second half as the QB. People make it seem like you can't bench a guy or you'll ruin him and that just isn't true. Geno can learn plenty from watching Vick go out there and play in regular season games. Big picture though, the biggest problem is that we lack the overall talent on offense to compete in this league at a high level. We have 2 quality receivers in Decker and Kerley and a young tight end with potential in Amaro. We need more players on the outside, we need a QB who can get them the ball. I'm not totally giving up on Geno but he needs to go to the bench and let the game slow down for him while watching from the sidelines. I'm also watching this while Rivers is doing his thing on the field, in total control of the offense. It's beautiful to see lol.
So the turnovers and overthrows, dropped passes had nothing to do with it? I'm not saying it was a hof effort, but MM didn't lose this one on play calling.
Kerley had 1 catch for 3 yards today. Amaro looked great out there, especially for a rookie TE. Decker looked good considering he is still injured. Salas looked solid, but wasn't even on the field until Nelson got hurt. Nelson should never EVER start again. He's fucking awful. Ivory runs really well, but can't catch a football for the life of him. If you put Amari Cooper with Decker, Kerley, Amaro, and Salas I think that is the making of a really good receiving core. Cooper is that good.
None of that is his fault, but him coming out in the 1st half with an ultra-conservative gameplan against the #1 ranked defense in the NFL doomed us. This team wasn't coming back from 14 down to the Lions. Aaron Rodgers was 14 down to the Lions and looked just as bad as Geno. It wasn't going to happen.
