You're going to regret this in two years when POP and Duncan are gone. Cherish the championships, because a window can close at the snap of a finger. I feel as if I have taken the Heat championship foregranted, and even though I dislike LeBron I'm going to miss seing number to number six to number 3. Fortunately, you're a Spurs fan so you haven't had to gone througn a rebuild, but those things are brutal. I have never experienced a more miserable season than the 15 and 67 one. As for the Spurs, they're the best team , but I just don't know how they'll top last seasons performance. But just enjoy Duncan's last ride.
Oh trust me ive taken it all in. Heck back in like 2009-2010, I thought it was over, pretty much everyone did. I didnt think I would see another Spurs championship for another decade or two, if ever considering how hard it is to win in the NBA. Im going to Brooklyn in December, probably the last time I will get to see Duncan, Ginobli, etc live.
That is true but the time between championships was pretty significant, I was a freshman in high school when they won it in 2007, I was a senior in college the next time they won it. And yeah, 7 years between championships isnt that long compared to other franchise, but you have to keep in mind what happened between those years. 2008 we lost to the Lakers, 2009 we get bounced in the first round, 2010 we are a #7 seed in the playoffs. At that point I thought it was over, I really did, we were declining like any great team eventually does, and at the same time I was watching the Lakers dominate the West, so even if the Spurs did get back to a competitive level, they still had to get through the Lakers. Then 2011 happenned, the Spurs became the #1 seed and there was hope again, of course what happenned in the playoffs was an atrocity, they get bounced in the first round by the Grizzlies. At that point I just thought it was over, and then watching the Mavs win it, and seeing the level of difficulty they had to go throught, I just didnt think the Spurs had it. Then 2012 starts up and the Spurs are playing as hot as ever, then the Thunder happened. At that point I conceded the West, the Thunder beat us and were only getting better while the Spurs were only getting older. Then of course 2013 rolls along, Westbrook gets hurt, Spurs basically get a cakewalk to the finals and of course lost in the most horrible fashion.
When the Heat won in 06, I also thought I'd never see another title. But , thankfully, we had one of the greatest four year runs in history. I don't think I'll ever appreciate the 2010 2014 team, until ten years when the books, documentaries, and movies come out. And the Spurs are the reason why I'm upset LeBron didn't came back. As you stated they were whipped by the Lakers, beat by the Suns, Memphis, OKC, and then game 6 happened. But they came back stronger and better than ever. The same goes for the Lakers in the 80s, the Pistons, and the Celtics. This is kind of off topic, but I feel as if this Heat could have become more than just another great team; we could have been legendary had LBJ came and we won it all again writing the wrong off the debacle 2014 was. He's a great player, but I can't help but think he's always taking the easy way out. I gave him a pass for the first decision, but again come on. All the great teams and players came back from adversity to win it all, I guess he's the exception.
I think your years are off by 1. 2013 was last year, Westbrook did get hurt, but then you say you lost in the most horrible fashion? No you didn't. WTF? Anyway, yeah that's why it is so frustrating. The Thunder clearly have a more talented team, and 3 years in a row now I thought the time was right, and it all went haywire at the end.
They did lose in horrible fashion. The Spurs were up by five with 28 seconds leeft in a game six of the finals. And they gave the game away. It doesn't get any worse than that, and although they got their revenge, I guarantee it still haunts them a bit.
But he said 2013. That was this past season. This is what I hate about sports that start in 1 year, and end in the other. In baseball, or racing, if you talk about the 2013 season, nobody will be confused as to what season you're actually talking about.
Ok I answered my own question. NBA Fantasy Basketball is already up and running!! Fuck yeah. Do you guys want to start a league together? This is my 3rd season of playing fantasy, and my 4th of watching NBA. I think I know enough to have good, competitive teams now. I'm sick of playing in public leagues, and would like to get one started up here. I'd like to get in the TGG fantasy football leagues too, but they're never open.
Ok when we are talking about NBA seasons, we call em by when the finals is. This season coming up is the 2015 season, last season was 2014, the Spurs were the 2014 champs, not the 2013.
Nay unless we can create a format where you can only update your roster once a week. I did it once, I went undefeated, but it required updating it every single day which is tedious as hell.
I love the leagues where your stats add up all year long. It's more fair to me at least. You're no fun lol.
I made a fantasy basketball league. If anyone wants to join, feel free. https://yho.com/nba?l=42349&k=a3f71ef2be0b11d8
I actually think the Knicks will be good this year. I think that kid Cleanthony will impress a lot of people and I expect a resurgence of Shumpert. Melo's role is also going to be changed up so hopefully he lifts other players with him. They'll be better than .500 it's a question of how much better. They have a shot at the division
