Let's also enjoy the fact that we are the 8th ranked offense after 3 weeks, and num 2 in the run .It isn't as bad as people are making it out to be
That's encouraging, but no more really. We sure as hell aren't 8th in terms of points scored and I dread to think how bad our red zone efficiency is. I need an end product before I can enjoy it.
I have seen posts where people are making excuses for not being good this year, as if it is okay to be an also-ran again, as if the Jets are on some 8-year plan to get back to the playoffs.
Usually I try not to be the impulsive Jet fan, but I totally was this week. That second interception I was calling for him to be benched immediately. After a couple of days of sleeping on it, I think I'm a bit more composed. Against Green Bay and Oakland he was good. He threw two picks, but neither really bothered me very much. One was a great play by an all time player, and the other, he was getting drilled because Winters blows (But thats a discussion for another day). The 2 picks against Chicago really pissed me off. I was furious, this was another winnable game where the Jets were the better team. Geno and Marty lost this one, 100%. But after the initial rage, I simmered a bit. It was really Geno's first bad game. And even with those 2 bad plays, he still moved the ball very well between the 20's. He just needs some work in the redzone when everything gets condensed. He should be trying to work the ball to Amaro in the redzone. The guy knows how to use his body to box out defenders. Inside the 5, he shouldnt be throwing. Ivory is among the most powerful runners in the game. Give him the ball 3 times if you have to. The potential is there for sure. He needs some fine tuning and another reliable target.
Funny last year we got a few last minute wins and could've easily ended 6-10 This year a play here a play there and we're 1-2 guess its how that cookie crumbles.
it's year 2 in the plan dude. i think there are only 4 people left on the roster from the playoff years. It's been completely turned over, and we are on the second year of a rebuilding path. if you thought this was a sure fire playoff team, that's on you. We have a very inexperienced team who need a lot of things to break their way to reach the playoffs (health, calls, bounces, QB development). if we are not sniffing the playoffs in 2015, then we got big problems, and probably another multi-year setback as we restock QB, coaches, GM, talent, etc.. lets hope thats not the case.
Hey you know what also happened in 1998?? We signed a vet QB in the offseason to be our backup and he ended up becoming our starting QB after 3 games Isn't that fucking ironic
Look at where the biggest mistakes came from last night: Geno, Saunders, Winters, Amaro, Allen, Adams, Walls.. in weeks 1 and 2 you can add Pryor, Salas, Sudfeld, and the banged up Milliner to that list. These are inexperienced players making the lions share of the mistakes. That's part of building a team thru youth. Personally i wish we got a few more vets in the offseason for depth, but i understand the overall plan for sustainable success. Are they the right guys to build with to reach sustainable success? I don't know yet. Some will step up, others may go the way of Hill or Gholston and never develop. I do find it funny that many of the posters who wanted youth, are enraged that we may not be a playoff team immediately. The team has played better than i thought they would. but it will get worse before it gets better, which may cause some posters to spontaneously combust.
Allen and Walls played as well as anyone could have expected. Allen is only 3 years removed from being a quasi LB and now being asked to cover the likes of Brandon Marshall. I know Allen dropped that sure INT and got beat over the top a couple of times but what did Walls do other than being accused of a penalty that he was actually the victim of?
Hey duder, it is on me for expecting a playoff berth? Well, if you say so. Hey everybody, I am a nitwit and a fucking moron. Hey everybody! Look at this post. A moron wrote it.
Rebuilding path? This is Rex Ryan's 6th year! Let me guess, this is a TEN YEAR rebuild, right? Just let us know when we officially get out of "rebuilding mode" and into "playoff mode." IMO a team will never be in the playoffs as long as every loss is rationalized as a part of an endless rebuild under a coach (cheerleader) who is clueless. And your point about 2015 is standard protocol under Rex Ryan i.e. wait till next year.
Tomdeb is the most irrational Rex hater on here, he doesn't care. I think he's actually a patriots fan.
If I was a Patriot fan, why would I want to get rid of Rex? He hasn't taken the jets to the playoffs or even A WINNING RECORD the last 3 seasons. This year he 's got the jets on track for a 4th non-winning/no playoff in row now. I'll bet all the Patriot fans are thrilled that Rex is still "in charge" i.e. having his DEFENSIVE players call timeout FROM THE SIDELINES to nullify game-tying TDs. Forgive me for wanting to follow a winning team, which under Rex Ryan the jets have not been for years (but it's never his fault).
