You clearly didn't watch Vick his last two seasons in Philly. He was a turnover machine and Philly fans wanted his head on a platter. Not arguing he isn't likely an upgrade over Smith, but calling him a pro bowl Qb at his stage in his career is laughable.
I was clamoring for Vick in the offseason but Idk if this team would be much different right now with him. I do believe he'd turn the ball over less than Geno Smith and if that's all you are looking for then I guess that's an upgrade. I don't think he would be any more effective completing passes though. And with as much as Morningweg has them dropping back I think Vick would get beat up. I also question his passion, he looks a little aloof, content to stay on the sidelines and collect his check. I know this is my own opinion and it might be bullshit but it worries me when I have to question a guy's passion.
I see Geno repeatedly making really terrible decisions. We're actually lucky the score was as close as it was last night given the number of foolish things he managed to accomplish in 4 quarters.
Geno should have never started. I gotta believe Mike V gets at least 1 td in those 7 red zone trips. Still trying to rely on trick plays, Why ? because they don't trust him. But yet keep playing him.
Lol that's a joke dude. The Seahawks have Russell Wilson running the show who is an absolute stud QB with future hall of famer potential. We have a guy that won't even be in the league in a couple years. Everyone loves to give Marty and the CS the blame right now but they can't be expected to make chicken salad out of chicken shit.
Wilson is a better QB than Geno but its because he isn't asked to do the world and he is much more seasoned. Its a great fit with the talent around him. He is utilized to his best capacity. Russell Wilson with this Jet offense struggles, the surrounding talent will not be able to help him and allow him to do what he is doing right now. This has been Marty's wrap dating back before his Jet days. This is not ground breaking. He lives and dies by the passing attack, the running attack is nothing more than a breather for the passing game and to try and shake things up. Its a spell to Marty, he came from a West Coast attack that instituted on the offense being decided in air.
partially, yes. But, I assure you, he wasn't good. He made a ton of boneheaded mistakes. Horrible interceptions, bad fumbles, fumbled snaps, etc. He just wasn't good. Summarily claiming he is a pro bowl caliber QB right now (which the poster I was responding to did) is just silly.
No, you absolutely don't know what you're talking about. The Seahawks went from a 7-9 team to 11-5 and then 13-3 SB champs because of his emergence. We are a playoff team immediately if Wilson is our QB. Wilson is a very smart QB, very technically sound, accurate passer, and the best running QB in the league. Wilson after his first 4 games in the NFL was already light years ahead of where Geno is right now.
He didn't magically turn them around by himself, please stop. They have a great defense, have a system where you have great depth with guys ready to step up if someone goes down or leaves for FA. Have a strong running attack with a backup who can start on teams, an OLine with good depth who may not be elite but have guys pulling their own weight and have WRs who don't cost too much but make plays and get open. They didn't pay Golden Tate the money Detroit did so they had a next guy up this year and they haven't missed a beat. They have terrific depth and it goes back to good drafting and proper cap management. Saying Russell Wilson magically changed them "Because of his emergence" is false. The coaching staff if anything should be responsible for the turn around.
And all of that was already there the year before but they were a sub .500 team. QB is the most important position. If Matt Flynn was their QB that team doesn't go to the playoffs, it probably doesn't even have a winning record. They'd basically be the Jets with better depth. R. Wilson absolutely did propel them to the next level because that's what having a great QB does to a team, and he is a great QB, very underrated obviously, he deserves the credit.
No one's saying Russell Wilson didn't matter or isn't a good QB but what I am saying is he works for Seattle and what they do, I don't know if you throw him in Indy or a place that demands far more out of their QB that he is doing what he is right now. The system is in place where someone like Russell Wilson is utilized to his best ability and as such is allowed to flourish and do well. Its setup well for a QB to do good in and to Wilson's credit, he's done that and then some.
Geno has not really improved to much imo, he is once again on pace for 20+ interceptions, and should have had at least another one of it wasnt for just bad drops from the defense. Week 4 is his final week imo, he has to come out and just turn off the turnovers completely, I want a turnover free game. Otherwise we cannot go into San Diego starting him, it would be a hopeless effort, im not sure Vick could even win in San Diego but Geno would get killed. If we fall to 1-4 then Vick would likely get put in against the Broncos anyway, so why not just make the move when we are 1-3 and going on the road for a very hard game.
That's just media bias. He's a very good QB, he'd be good on any team. R. Wilson - singlehandedly marches his team down field for winning TD in OT to beat the broncos - nobody gives a shit / these OT rules are bullshit A. Luck - does nothing until his team is in a big hole, puts up some points against a prevent and then gets stuffed when the broncos D tightens up - almost a great comeback what an amazing QB
Russel Wilson is going to be the Tom Brady of this decade. He's an outstanding, possibly elite, decision maker and has complete control of that offense. At this point I'd take him over Luck without thinking twice. This is only his 3rd year in the league btw - only one more than Geno.
Wilson has a far better supporting cast from the running game, to the offensive line, to the obvious which is the defense. Luck needs to play excellent for 60 minutes in order for the Colts to be in each game. Wilson statistically has been great this yr, but there have been many opportunities where the defense had an opportunity to generate a TO. There is nothing good about the Colts other then Andrew Luck. Wilson is like the early "Game Managing" Tom Brady from the SB days but makes MORE plays.
