He's making too many big mistakes for anyone to be saying he's playing "really well." He is showing promise and seems to consistently move us down the field, but he had two awful interceptions tonight (and had a 3rd that should have been picked to seal the game for the Bears). The second one in the red zone was just inexcusable (late throw to the back of the end zone without even planting his feet). I like Geno and think he has a chance to be good, but he's still far too inconsistent.
Right. And in year 5, everybody would be so sick to see him on the field. Like his predecessor. Hell, Sanchez wasn't good for 1 pick 6 a game during any stretch of his brief career as a Jet. Geno is good for a pick a game - that is after a marked improvement of 21 picks in 16 games. Ha!
He did some good things in this game. But those boneheaded plays wiped away a pretty decent overall game. I believe in him and I expect him to have bad games every once in a while. I hope he redeems himself next week.
They were playing against a secondary of rookies and practice squad players. Marty didn't force Geno to throw inaccurate passes off his back foot while drifting backwards. Yet, you're making them. No, he hasn't. No, it isn't. Ah, the battle cry of the Sanchez apologist.
You obviously don't watch closely enough. Watch his first 12 career starts minus the Falcons. He looks much better now than then. This is coming from someone who's never been sold on Geno, nor am I now, but we're a rebuilding team in the second year of that rebuild. Things will get better.
247/443, 3043 yards, 12 TDs and 21 Ints for a rating of 66.5 That may not be THE worst QB in football, but don't you think that's gettting pretty close to there? This year, he's doing pedestrian - with the exception of his propensity for turnovers. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- His completion ratio is up, and so is his TD pass %. His INTs didn't go down much. That's not what I call 'marked' improvement.
I'm implying he has unquestionably played like a Bottom 5 NFL starter over his 19 career starts. Just like Sanchez did for his four years.
Every QB in the league still makes easy mistakes. If you can't see the improvement, you literally don't know anything about the QB position. You know nothing about footwork, nor decision making, nor the effects of others on the QB. I'm not even saying the guy is good or going to be good. I'm saying he is improving, which he is.
Typical rookie year from an undeveloped qb and he's definitely not the worst qb in the league right now.
Two things: 1) "worst" and "Bottom 5" have explicitly different meanings 2) He's a lot better this year than he was last year and it's only week 3, so it's kind of hard to rank him right now. He definitely needs to stop turning the ball over, but he has also showed some promise. He's a mixed bag right now. And once again, it's still only his 19nth career start.
If you think Geno showed improved footwork tonight, you need new eyeglasses. Here's the number of times Geno planted his back foot, stepped into his throw, and threw a hard accurate pass tonight? Zero times.
Who said he's getting to Year 5? I swear the overreactions are ridiculous. All I've said is that he's improved. Irrational people take everything to the extreme. He has a long way to go, but that doesn't mean he shouldn't be starting. It's better to see what he has than wonder.
