I was going to create this thread a few days ago after Jets lost a heartbreaker against the Packers, such a frustrating loss...It got me thinking, we have lost a ton of close games in Rex's era. Although we have had our share of big blowout losses they are much rarer then close games (under 7 points or less) in recent years. We have found ways to really lose in stupid ways. Then I saw the Bucs last night get raped on national TV by the Falcons...Wish someone threw the white towel in that one. No one wants to see us lose...But it happens. What would you rather see with your Jets? Jets losing in a blowout? OR Jets losing a close game? (heart-breaker)
Honestly who would genuinely rather be embarrassed than lose a tight game? Seems kind of ridiculous to me. Who would trade the Packers game for the 45-3 beat down by the Patriots in 2010?
If it means we'll then go on and knock the Patsies out of the playoffs on our way to the AFCCG, sign me up for a TNF Tampa-like ass whooping please.
I'd rather see them lose a close game without idiocy that loses it for them. Let them be beat out on the field with 3 timeouts left to stop the opposing team rather than forced into do or die 4th downs with 4-5 minutes left in the game. If the Jets preserve all three timeouts in that game they can still allow a first down and get the ball back with a minute and a half. Instead one first down ices the game with 3:15 left to play.
I dont know man...I still think about the Pittsburgh AFC championship game to this day. Only game I shed man tears. The Pats "butt-fumble" game was quite embarrassing...You tell me which was worse for a fan though
The blowouts are unwatchable after so many minutes despite the fact that most keep watchint. It takes all the joy out of the game being down 31-0 in 20 minutes of game action yet most true fans watch the game til the end.
Butt fumble game was much worse. Only two teams make it to the SB, and I can live with the fact that we were almost one of them, though it hurt a lot. I didn't get constant shit from people making fun of the entire organization when we lost to Pitt. The Butt-Fumble game is another story.
For me a blowout is easy to get over. Usually I move on by Tuesday or so. But the close games hurt up until game time the following week. Even still Id rather watch em lose a close one. Most of the time there are more positives to take out of it even though the loss stings more. Life of a Jet fan. Always going with what hurts worse lol.
I hate sitting through blowout games. I'll take the heartbreaking loss anyday as much as it pains me and costs me sleep. If I had to sit through a game like Bucs fans had to last night against Atlanta i'd be throwing remotes at televisions and screaming at anybody around me lol.
You never want to see your team lose at all, but why the hell would you ever want to see them get blown out and embarrassed? I'd take a close loss every time.
Sometimes blow outs have a positive effect going forward. I'm curious to see how Tampa responds next week and beyond.
For me, football is an escape, so I would much rather be entertained for 3 hours with all of the ups and downs that a close game entails...
I'm not sure it matters as either way, itsa loss. Now if the question were: Would you rather see the Jets lose and get the #1pick overall OR win a meaningless game, that would be a harder question to answer.
