Going into the game I expected us to cover the spread. As soon as we went up two scores I expected a win.
imo it was a emotional game. I been very positive of Calvin Pryor but this game he played like trash lol , gonna give a pass to dee cuz he said he was still in pain as he was playing. Anyways lets look forward for next game.
Eventually I'll calm down, but today I'm still furious. Optimistically you could say that we were expected to lose this game pretty handily and it was a few mistakes (coaching mistakes) that cost us the game. You clean up those mistakes and we win. If we can clean up those mistakes we should be able to beat almost any team. Realisitically those mistakes or others will likely continue and we just pissed away a chance at getting to 2-0.
Look at the bright side we lost to an NFC opponent and our division looks very up for grabs sure the loss hurts but we have plenty of time to bounce back
How can you say that we're going to beat the Bears after a game like this? I just don't trust this team. I really have to say that this year (including the preseason) this team has looked more undisciplined than ever. This group was like Animal House and this year its'gotten like Slap Shot. If Rex doesn't go at least 9-7, show him the door. It's time for a change.
You know that Marty is the offensive coordinator right? He made the play call. Another thing is why settle for a field goal against an offense like the packers. They had been scoring tds on them the whole first half. That play came down to sudfield being an idiot and not playing defense and swatting the ball down. No way should have he let that get intercepted. To me this was where we lost the game. It was a 10 to 14 point swing. It was also a momentum killer
No I think he's twice as pissed at least I expected a blowout to be so close and lose it at the end hurts
Sleeping on it helped. Everyone expected to be 1-1 going into week 3. I was steaming mad last night and I'm pretty pissed now, but its getting better. Jets took GB to the limit. Losing by 7 in GB in their home opener, with them getting some home cooking, I think everyone would have taken that. It sucks how it went down, but there are some things to be encouraged about. I'm never the guy who complains about officiating, and I am going to look past the Time out. It happened to Green Bay a couple years ago, and it happened to NE against us last season. Weird calls happen at the end of the game to road teams. My complaint is the lack of holding calls. We sacked Rodgers twice in the first three plays and the pressure really slows down. I have a hard time believing their OLine just got their shit together and ours fell apart at that point. The called back INT hurt, but that was against the rules, as insignificant as it was. Either way, its clear the secondary is a weakness, and I think its clear Milliner shouldnt have been playing. I thought Walls looked ok early on, but he just isnt a starting a CB. I think Idzik has done a great job overall, but I wish there was something more he could have done about CB. I'm ok not signing big money free agents, but he had to find something out there, or at least bring Cro back. Allen seems like he could be a solid corner, and I'm not too worried at Milliner either, once he gets healthy, he'll improve. McDougle woould have been nice as well. Maybe next year we go after Maxwell and we throw out Milliner/Maxwell/McDougle as our CB's. Offense struggled during the middle part of the game. Geno looked solid overall and would have had a 2 TD-0 TO game if Sudfeld could have stopped that INT instead of watching it. Either way, he looked solid. With the running game not working, it was tough for Geno to get anything going. I dont know how the backups are looking, but Winters has to go. He was the reason for the INT at the end of the second. And he had another horrible play thats escaping me. If Dozier or Abushi can go, you get them in there. If not, the first round pick is going to a G. We cant be getting Geno killed out there. 1-1 is where we expected the Jets to win. It sucks how it played out, but focus has to be on Chicago now. Thats a winnable game at home. Ok rant over lol. Writing about it helped a bit.
If the Jets can run the ball and put pressure on the QB they're going to win a bunch of games this season. Yesterday they did one of those things.
It was a bad call. It's as simple as that. It's 1st down and you're in FG range and you want to run the play clock down and then either score a TD or kick a FG. This is NFL 101 here. Bad call. The worst time to turn the ball over is in the two minutes before the half in scoring position. The Jets get a FG there and a FG on the opening drive in the 2nd half and they have an 18 point lead.
Than prepare for Monday expecting the worst. That is your perogative. That isnt really how I operate though.
We might have a difference of opinion on "a bunch" but I tend to agree with that formula being a winning one.
For me 10 or 11 is a bunch and if the Jets can run the ball well and pressure the QB I expect them to win 10 or 11 this year.
Totally disagree. It was a bad play by Winters and even worse play or lack there of by Sudfeld. What if we attempted to run the ball and Winters whiffed on the block as he did on the pass play causing a fumble on the QB to RB exchange? It comes down to execution.
The second part of your post is completely hypothetical. The QB/RB exchange would have already happened for one thing as he just finished faking to hand off but held on to it to complete the throwing motion. It was a dumb play call. No room for interpretation. End of story. Period.
