Well we appreciate the loyalty (although if you ever did sell the website I wouldnt get upset, because its a luxury to have it, not a right).
I am not sure how accurate this is but: http://www.worthofweb.com/website-value/jetsinsider.com This site says its worth about $40 grand, I assume the number he sold it for is a lot smaller than that.
First of all, the numbers on that website really don't mean much if anything at all. It's just an estimation based on traffic estimation and a bunch of other estimates. How many premium members did they have? I'd guess at least a thousand or so. So, here's $60K/year just from the VIP subscriptions, then you add advertising and merchandise revenue. So, it's pretty certain that he sold it for over $100K. Maybe over $200K... who knows.
That Scout site is awful cant stand the site of it. But it still draws a surprising amount of traffic. Which im sure is due to guests and lurkers trying it out
It's mainly because you only need one account to browse all of their forums. Convenience I guess. They have proprietary forum software and it is really poorly developed.
I was wondering if anyone else got an email today. I didn't realize I had a JI account but I must have signed up there 5 years ago for some reason. I must have realized it sucked right away because I don't even have one post but they emailed me today to let me know about the move.
I use to also visit turnonthejets.com but they are so late with updates that I just stopped going there. BUT in here if something breaks its usually posted pretty fast.
