To hard to make a prediction without having played one down of real football yet. But besides the Raiders game its the next 4 games that will set the tone for this years Jets team. If we can split the those 4 games we may have a chance for something special or this season can go south really fast.
I don't always watch football, but when I do I make predictions like the Jets going 16-0. Bravo brother. I say 10-6.
10-6 Vs Raiders win At Packers loss Vs Bears win Vs Lions win At Chargers loss Vs Broncos loss At Patriots loss Vs Bills win At Chiefs win Vs Steelers win Bye week At Bills win Vs Dolphins win At Vikings loss At Titans win Vs Patriots win At Dolphins loss
I group the games into three categories: 1. The games the Jets should win - Raiders, Lions, Bills, Fins, At Vikings. 2. The games the Jets will probably lose - Broncos, At Patriots, At Fins 3. The games that could go either way - everything else. That leaves the Jets with some real chances at a good season or potentially stuck at .500 depending on how the ball bounces this year. For those wondering about At Packers not being an auto-loss, their defense is not very good at the moment. The Jets have a real chance in that game if they can get some pressure on Rodgers and if Geno can lead a couple of scoring drives in the first half.
I think the Jets could win game 2 just running the hell out of the ball and tiring out GB's defense, dominating TOP. I'm not so confident in our ability to get to Rodgers, he's elusive and gets the balls away too quickly to expect interior linemen to be the difference, but hey, they did it to Brees, so I'm not counting them out.
The Packers will be playing a rookie at Center against the Jets. The guy will have one game of experience with Rodgers, not having even taken a snap from him in the preseason. The game is in Lambeau in the late afternoon and the crowd is going to be roaring. Across the line the rookie will be looking at Snacks, who was a handful for anybody who had to face him last year. He'll be watching Calvin Pryor creep up over the Left Guard and threaten a blitz. He'll be dealing with stunts from both Wilkerson and Richardson. Quinton Coples will be lined up over him on passing downs. I give the Jets a pretty good chance to get some pressure in Mr Rodgers neighborhood that game.
I should just copy and paste my reply to the other 'how will we do' threads. Last year we were a 6 win team that got a few lucky breaks and ended up 8-8. This year we seem to be closer to a legitimate 8 win team. But you got add +/- 2 just on bad ref calls, so yup, we're a 6 to 10 win team.
