Jets rule of thumb: no game is a gimme, ever. That said, obviously I feel better about this game than the following week, or the week after that...
No gimmies but if the Jets find a way to lose this game the Jets are in some serious SERIOUS trouble. This may be the most "must-win" 1st game in Jets history. We actually match up pretty well with teams like the Packers, Bears, and Lions because their defenses all have major holes but there is no way we win all three and we will be VERY fortunate to win 2. If we lose this then 0-4 becomes a little bit too real for my liking.
I feel like the fact that they have a much older team compared to our younger group is gonna play right into our hands. They aren't the same Raiders we blew out last season but they can still be blown out.I for one hope Carr starts ,Rex has an amazing record against rookie QBs ,he knows how to easily confuse the shit out of them.
If we beat the Raiders by 1 at home in a sloppy game on a late field goal, its a lose/lose. However, if, for once, we crush a bad team at home like we are "supposed" to, it could be a real statement game. I'd like see the a 38-0 final score that will send a message to other teams that the Jets are ready for a new year.
Rookie QB in his first real NFL game should bode well for our defense. He's looked better than Schaub in the preseason but I still like that Carr is playing. Hopefully he doesnt handle the pressure well and we build some confidence before GB.
Please do not sleep on Oakland. They are headed in the right direction also. However, jets win 31-21 week 1. Jets always find some week 1 magic that never leads into week 2. (I also got Jets winning 21-20 week 2)
Little surprised. Rookie QB getting a road start Week 1 against a really good front 7. The Raider way doesnt involve making much sense though. I guess lighting up the Seattle practice squad last week was good enough.
I just feel so much better about my guy GENO coming into this year i feel he will help lead us to 21 PPG this year which will help us beat a lot of teams we shoulda but couldn't beat in the past in those low scoring matchups
Facts. But they will be get better with time they finally have something to build off of on both sides of the ball
I actually somewhat like that the most difficult part of our schedule is the out of conference side. Last year, even if the chargers would have lost and fallen to 8-8, creating a multi-way tie, we wouldn't even have been close to the 6th seed because of our atrocious AFC record. Having games against teams like the Raiders should help out with tiebreakers in what figures to be a very close race for the final spot. However, last year the NFC portion of our schedule was also the hardest, and we went 3-1 in that while dropping games to the Dolphins, Bills, Titans and then 0-4 Steelers in conference, so that's not necessarily true.
Doubt that happens. Raiders got wayy better than that team that used to get embarrassed week in and week out
Where exactly did they get better? Starting a rookie QB so call that a wash if its not worse. Their secondary is terrible. Running game isnt as good as it used to be. They have old broken down backs. I do like their front 7 but I still think ours is much better. They have a decent O line and WR corps. They are not a very good team and they are statistically the oldest team in the league although Janikowski doesnt help that stat. Maybe they are going in the right direction but I dont see a good team on the field this year. We should not lose to the Raiders at home. They also always do poorly on East Coast trips.
