Simms played rather well IMO but clearly he hasn't had the opportunity Smith has had. Smith barely played in the game yet so many on here are 'praising' his progress which is really absurd. Even those last 4 games of the season are nothing to get excited about. My contention is Smith will ultimately be a serviceable yet mediocre QB in the NFL, light years from being a top 5 QB in his delusional perception. Regardless, I really don't care how he progresses, I just don't like his vibe. He's a dumb, cliché ridden egomaniac. He doesn't sit well with me as being a competent leader, a guy who can get through adversity. The guy has no substance, no moxie. Namath screamed it (there is nothing outstanding about Smith) , several GM's screamed it and I'm screaming it to. But we will be stuck with him for years just like we were stuck with Sanchez. Unless Idzik has any balls to pull the plug..... but he wont since he let numerous Qb's go right by in the previous draft. He talks about competition.... my azz.
This confirms it for me. You thought Simms played well. No he didn't he was up and down. He did some good things but I wouldn't classify his performance as playing well. If Geno played like Simms you'd bash him. You just don't like Geno and there really isn't anything he could do outside of playing at a ridiculously high level for him to change your mind. Geno showed poised, looked comfortable and made good decisions. There was clear improvement. Obviously you can't put too much stock into one game but so far so good.
Are you Simms' publicist or something? I didn't even know someone can think like you. His DAD ranks GENO ahead of SIMMS! Kellen Clemens has done more in his career.
Don't talk about someone being a, "serviceable yet mediocre QB", and then talk about how we were stuck with Sanchez. If we had a serviceable, mediocre QB for the last 4 years we might have won a superbowl and certainly wouldn't have missed the playoffs for the last few years. I certainly don't think Geno has proven himself to be outstanding, or even good, but if he is even mediocre, and doesn't turn the ball over 4x per game, and throw every 2 yard pass into the feet of his receiver, it will be a massive, massive upgrade over what we have had. I'd like our defense, just once, to have a chance to play most of the year with average field position and time of possession. We never had that in the Sanchez era. You have to have your head stuck way up your ass to think we should abandon Geno and go to an unknown factor yet again. If the Jets are smart, they will let Geno drive the boat 100% of the way until he crashes it and burns miserably. That's when they should pull the plug. That's when they should have pulled the plug with Sanchez. If Geno doesn't get it done this year he should be gone - period. That aside, he should have the opportunity to show what he can do.
If is the biggest word in the dictionary. You used IF four times. If you had a brain, you'd have some type of clue. IF Eugene was Dan Marino we'd win the next 5 super bowls. If your brain wasn't stuck halfway up your ass, your argument would hold some water. I will give you credit for your last line.... 'If Geno doesn't get it done this year he should be gone - period.' Thats IF you were the GM which you're not and Eugene will be here living the dream of mediocrity for the next 3-4 years.
