@TurnOnTheJets Amaro mostly played with hand in ground for team drills. Some slot work in 7-on-7. Caught 2 balls from Vick with 2nd team.

meh - I really hope they don't plan on making him be a blocker when that's now why he was drafted. I understand being well rounded but that's not really who he is. Let him go be a mismatch in the middle of the field.

First day in pads. I'm sure the Jets wanted to test Amaro out and evaluate his blocking technique.

I don't anticipate this happening all training camp - he was drafted to be a play-maker.

Last I heard he was still on the Clippers.

Although, there's questions that he might sit out the year with Doc Rivers if Sterling remains owner.

This would be awful for a big hitter. One concussion so many times leads to multiple concussions, especially for the way this guy plays.

So there is supposed to be a presser right now but there's no feed. First cuts of training camp should be the entire web team.

    Bingo.

And this is one of the reasons you want to amass Draft picks.

In previous years we probably would have had to rely on Evans. Now that we have a collection of guys, we can rely on the guy who legitimately steps up right away, while the others can take develop into productive players (hopefully) over time.

Ryan singing praises of Rontez Miles and Troy Davis. Says both will get chance to prove themselves with first group on special teams. #nyj

Jace Amaro only one left on the field. Catching balls from the Juggs Machine. The kid wants it bad. #NYJ

Love to hear that about him.

I'm with you on this one. Amaro from day one sounds like a guy that isn't going to be satisfied just being a solid tight end, he wants to be a pro-bowl caliber tight end. It sounds like his route-running and understanding of the playbook is coming along nicely, he is just dropped some balls here and there, so some work on the Juggs Machine may be just what he needs.

Overall it sounded like another good day of practice. I remember a few times during the last preseason Rex headed into the presser and pretty much said that practice was a disaster. So far it sounds like everything has been smooth sailing except for some smaller things that are easily fixed.

Geno's completion percentage so far in camp has to be the best news of all though. 75 to 80 percent completion in practice ussually translates to around 61 - 64 percent or so on gameday and if that's the case the Jets offense won't be hanging out in the bottom 10 in the NFL this year.

Concussions for a player like Pryor are an inevitability. I think he will be a great player for the Jets but I am only expecting his NFL career to last about 7 to 8 years max. Coverage safeties like Ryan Clark on the Steelers can be productive for 10+ years but hard hitting guys like Bob Sanders don't usually last very long. Still worth the 1st round pick IMO with the shortage of great safeties in the league but it's part of the downside when it comes to Pryor.
