Gardner up with 2 outs...runner at the corners....lets see..the Yanks cant buy a hit with runners in scoring position and Jeter? I know..God..but wow...he is hurting this team right now.
amazing how a team with a payroll this high can be so boring to watch. Its getting tough..other then Tanakas starts. I mean..how can a team with this payroll be so average. As a Yankee fan...this will not be popular but have to vent it. Jeter: I mentioned as soon as he announced his retirement go around that this was a stupid idea. Especially with MO doing it the year before. Its becoming even more boring. It seems like everywhere you turn he is saying goodbye to someone. To the guy that gets a double and is on second base....every time he comes to the plate. It makes no sense. And his nonsense about just getting it out there and over with is bullshit too. If he said in spring training that he will not answer the question..nobody would have asked him the question. Its, from a fan standpoint...a total distraction. He gets away with it though. For the last time too...Cashman and his minor league scouts are the worst in baseball. By far...there is no team with a more horrible system to feed the major league team. Every time you think they might go on a run, they are totally exposed with the lack of any good youth OTHER then relief pitchers. I don't understand how this guy has a job.
Rooting for the Yankees is kinda like rooting for US congress. You can buy off whoever you want and have every advantage in your favor and still fail miserably.
Met Graig Nettles tonite. Really really nice dude, looks a lot older than I would have thought. Didn't have the stomach to ask him about the Pine Tar Incident. Figured he'd been asked a million times. Very gracious guy. _
Heh, MLB allowed AROD to cheat. Won't change anything. http://www.si.com/mlb/2014/07/01/bloodsport-excerpt-alex-rodriguez-new-york-yankees-steroids Back to the Yankees, they are just average. You figure Ellsbury, McCann, and or Beltran will pick it up a bit. The hitting and pitching just hasn't been on the same page these past series. Thankfully the AL East is bad.
Despite the .500 baseball to this point the division is still up for grabs. Not sure if we can consistently win with a rotation of Kuroda/Phelps/McCarthy/Whitley behind Tanaka but well see.
Yeah not the team or play I anticipated at the start of the season. Record wise I could see this, but really surprised at how we got here.
I was watching this game and I remember this huge lying tool. http://nypost.com/2014/07/07/yankees-fan-caught-sleeping-suing-espn-for-10-million/ Used car dealer. Admits he "briefly slept". He was out for several innings, minimum.
Tanaka MRI http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/2014/07/09/yankees-masahiro-tanaka-mri-on-elbow/12420333/
It was upsetting Rivera going out with that 2013 team, now even worse for Jeter in 2014. 2 great playoff players might not even get to sniff the playoffs in their final seasons. Disappointing to me for sure.
Much as I hate the Yankees, am pretty shocked and bummed about that. The guy is a great pitcher, I like watching him work. Hope it's not Tommy John surgery time for his sake. Would suck for Yankee fans, that's how us Met fans felt about Harvey. Dang. _
