That's interesting because in 2-3 years when Brady is done it will be the Pats most likely trying to copy the Jets formula, which is: Strong every where BUT QB. For the last 15 years every team has been banking on finding an elite, franchise QB to save them ala The Pats with Tom Brady. Turns out to be a LOT harder than it looks with only 2-3 teams succeeding with the other 30 team crashing and burning. Except for teams that go hard into Plan B: Dominating Defense that can keep any game in reach, Kickass O-Line, hi octane running game, decent WRs, and the best QB you can get but at the very least a QB who doesn't lose games. Having an unstoppable QB will always be Plan A, but the other 25-30 teams better build a real good Plan B, which is the Jets plan, and the plan NE will be copying soon enough.
....and weird as it may seem I think Belicheck is looking forward to going back to his roots, Defense and winning with strategy.
Let me remind you that probably 70% of the posters in the Draft forum thought that Jimmy Garappolo was ultimately going to be the best QB out of the draft this year. _
i voted for geno given the choices. But..... would make me extremely happy to see coples get off early this season. would be an awful waste if he ends up being a square peg trying to fit in a round JETS hole.
Yep, although it's been spreading around the league for awhile now and other teams are doing that too.
Is that the same 70% that thinks they are draft experts because they pay a few dollars a month to draft sites stocked with "experts" that rarely do their jobs well?
The dudes that were hoping Teddy Bridgewater "fell" so they could feel good about their clairvoyant superpowers. _
I have no horse in that race, just so we're clear. Fans on a football forum can want who they want, but a lot of times, they end up looking stupid in the long run in terms of the draft, especially concerning quarterbacks.
Basically I was referring to your arch-nemisis BWay. He has me on ignore so don't worry, I haven't blown your cover. _
As an avid followers of college football it wasn't Amaro's stats that impressed me, although obviously they were good. He is one of those guys who is very large but has freakish athletic ability and very good speed. He has very good hands and tends to catch the ball cleanly and in stride. I'm reasonably confident that we will see him catching a lot of balls and running over quite a few defensive backs. If there is any part of his game that is suspect it's his blocking. That's not to say he cannot block, but it really wasn't part of the scheme at his school so it's hard to make an accurate judgement based on the limited exposure.
It's really hard to predict these things. It's not often that a FCS QB ends up becoming a long term starter, let alone a top tier QB. We can get a better idea in the pre-season games if he gets to play; it's different when they're trying to hit you, and even more different in regular season games, playing real games against real NFL starters. Also, he played in a simple offense, and will need to learn how to play under center. That'll be a big adjustment. He may also need to change his throwing motion, because supposedly he has a quick yet often low release that could lead to batted passes and interceptions at the nfl level. If he changes his throwing motion, he may lose his lightning fast release. Anyway, we'd better hope he isn't Brady 2.0, otherwise we are in for some troubles long-term. It's much harder to make the playoffs with an elite QB in your division.
