If we win our opening game against the Raiders, what else would make you even happier going into the rest of the season? I'd love to see Geno play lights out, same with Milliner just to continue their play from last season. But I'd also love to see the new guys Amaro and CJ have great games. But I gotta go with Pryor destroying their top offensive threat. What scenario would give you the most goosebumps? Edit: I forgot to put a choice in there where Decker clearly plays like a #1 WR
No-brainer, I think. We need Geno to become 'the man' if the Jets are going to become a complete team. I was tempted by the Amaro option, however. Don't like the McFadden option, by the way, but I don't want to sound preachy!
Really not that tough of a choice. Clearly Geno having a solid game. It was tempting to pick Milliner getting a game ending interception, but to be honest, I don't want it to be that close. I want to demolish Oakland so the opportunity for a game saving pick like that wouldn't arise.
The entire 2014 season (not just the 1st game) will really come down to Geno and the secondary. As Rex says those are the most important positions that can determine the fate of your team. For this poll I still picked Geno because I think it will be huge if he comes out week 1 and plays well to set the bar for the rest of the season.
Well, my expectation for the season is for the defense to carry the offense early in the season, so the D decimating the Raiders in game one would do it for me. A shutout would make me extra happy.
Actually, what would make me extra happy would be for Snacks to gurney the exhumed coffin of Al Davis to the 50 yard line, flip the lid open and take a gigantic dump into it, but I'll settle for a shutout.
Pryor crushes McFadden knocking him out of the next 4 games with a major concusion Milliner picks off a pass in the endzone to preserve a Jets victory Amaro goes 8 for 8 for 100 yards and one TD CJ2K runs the ball 18 times for 120 yards and a TD Geno throws for 280 yards and 2 TDs with no INTs 1. Can't go with #1 because Oakland's not a division rival (and McFadden I don't necessarily want to see concussed). 2. Can't go with #2 because if we come down to needing an endzone stop to hold off Oakland at home, that doesn't bode well for the 6-game "QB" stretch that follows opening week. 3. Can't go with #3 because it doesn't tell us what the other receivers did or if there was offensive balance across-the-board. 4. This would be my 2nd choice - it would mean the OL had a good game (assuming CJ's stats weren't deceptively blown up on one long run). 5. This would be my choice because it shows 160 more yards and an additional TD over option #4 and, it involves the most important cog in the offense. Smith puts up those no turnover stats, that's most likely a Jet win. McFadden's not gashing the edge like he did last time out on the coast. And if Pryor's going to shake up anybody, I'd rather it be Schaub.
I think the success/failure of our season lies heavily with the QB, so I'm going with the big game from Geno.
That 7 of our 12 draft picks make some sort of contribution and that we find at least 4 new starters.
I went with Amaro 8 for 8 with 100 yards and a TD. If he goes 8/8 that with 100 yard and a td that means that Geno is throwing the ball awesome, plus Amaro is the real deal (which I'm certain he is after watching him throughout college).
Yeah and i thought Brandon Weeden was very underrated coming out too. Taught me a thing or two about stats in different systems. I have faith too, but let's at least see some NFL production before being all out sold on the guy. Tbh, I think Cumberland (at least this year) will be just as big a piece to the offense as Jace. He's going to have a hard time learning a new, difficult offense, and TE is just not a position where rookies explode on the scene on any sort of regular basis.
