I always thought of Karl as having a good Offensive system, despite his lack of Playoffs success. I'm a Nets fan (been one since I was a kid), and this situation is definitely a bit unsettling. But if Kidd is being given by this opportunity by the Bucks, then I could see why he took it to the Nets Front Office to match. The other stuff (him cursing out people etc) isn't cool, and if he has a falling out with the organization, then that sucks. But I wouldn't be upset with any of those 3 candidates, although Karl is older and has had health issues, on top of everything else.
Just get rid of Kidd, I wasnt a fan of his when they hired him. The Nets really are in purgatory like many other franchises. They should be a playoff team but they are not going to be winning the Eastern Conference. Lopez is coming back but Williams was a disaster last season, especially against Miami.
I just figure if Karl clashed with Melo he's going to clash with Deron Williams. All 3 wouldn't be terrible choices, and I actually thought BK should have hired a veteran coach last year. I just personally don't see those coaches staying long term for the eventual rebuild that should occur in the next 2-3 years.
To me, Kidd failed with Deron Williams. It might have been the players fault but how in the world does your PG just play that god awful. If he was injured he shouldnt have been playing.... And down the stretch of these games, the Nets were a mess.
Yeah, it's hard to figure out what the longterm plans are. I do have some faith in Billy King, and I'm assuming so does the organization, based on what's transpiring with Kidd. Regarding DWill, I don't have any sources to cite right now, but I've heard basketball insiders say that the Nets might be looking to deal him to somewhere like Houston, if the Rockets should miss out on their top target(s). Along with his ankle issues, the Nets want to move DWill's salary, so that in two years, there are no big contracts on the books. (KG and Pierce would be retired, DWill elsewhere, and that leaves Lopez, who may or may not have a contract that year). So, I guess that's one approach to some sort of plan over the next several season. And if DWill does get moved, then the Karl issue is no longer an issue, at least, not with DWill. I don't know if any one of those three guys are ideal for the Nets, but at least it seems like we won't be left high & dry with a bunch of no-names to choose from.
From what I understand, Williams actually wants to leave pretty badly. I dont think the Nets will find a trade partner because of his contract, he can opt out in 2 seasons though. I dont blame the Nets one bit for trying to improve their team the way they did. This is Lebrons league, so either you can either try to beat him or not try to beat him. Thats why I cant comprehend why people were critical of the trades for Pierce and Garnett, I mean what the hell did you want them to do? bring back the same team and get bounced in the first round? The two major reasons why they werent able to push the Heat further was because of Williams falling off the planet, and Garnett completely looking to old. (im actually suprsied Garnett is back, there was a rumor he would go the Clippers, hes clearly done though as a player in this league)
Yep. Building a team in the NBA is much different than building a team in the NFL, for many reasons, of which I'm sure we're all aware, especially regarding the Draft. I don't think the moves that the Nets have made (the addition of KG, Pierce, AK47, Thornton) is as bad as has been portray. It's like you said: they took a shot at beating LeBron and it failed. But they still have a few pieces and an owner whose willing to spend. It's still a high-profile job for a Head Coach, and therefore, there should be solid candidates when this disaster with Kidd ends.
The whole world knew that Harden was going to get traded , and everyone said that the Thunder would keep Ibaka. Please stop listening to ESPN and watch the man play. You saying Westbrook will be traded just shows your lack of basketball knowledge. Hey did you realize that the max you get after your rookie deal is way below market value? Derrick Rose signed his contract after his rookie deal, which is whybhe is not making 20 million. You and I both know that you did not watch the Raptors this season, please watch players and learn a thing or two about the salary cap before you spout bs.
Because if you go all in for a championship, you get a veteran coach, not a new one. You either go all in or you don't. Going all in doesn't work very well if you don't have a good coach which the Nets didn't have. Also, the Nets got fleeced. They traded for an old Pierce and KG, but the price they paid was for a current star in their prime. They overpaid for it and add up their past mistakes (trading the pick that drafted Lillard) and what not, it just wasn't a smart move for them for how much they paid. 2015: Hawks can take the better of the Nets and their own pick 2016: no 1st round pick 2017: Celtics can take the better of the Nets and their own pick 2018: no 1st round pick If you are trading all that, you better be getting back stars that can play in their prime for 4-5 years. They got fleeced in the trade. It was also obvious KG was slowing down, Doc had to stagger his minutes greatly to help protect KG and help protect the team. I agree, you use your assets to improve your team and try to win a championship. They overpaid for what they got in return. It's not like it was a fluke KG and Pierce were looking old, that was known going into the trade.
Getting rid of PJ was a monumental mistake. I would have felt A LOT better with him as the coach against the Heat rather than Kidd. To adress your draft picks, I still dont see how they got "fleeced". Fleeced from what? not win the East or not winning the east? If they got fleeced then the trade will propel the Celtics to an NBA finals. No one got "fleeced", sorry. (I know Knick fans cant stand the Nets).
Again, when Lowry gets offered a max contract from a team, come to talk me. Till then, shut your mouth. I watched Raptor basketball, I know how good Lowry is. PGs dont get the max in this league like you believe, they just dont. Rose started off his current contract at $16 million. When a team offers Lowry that much, then you can say you were right, till then your wrong. Westbrook didnt get the max, Tony Parker has never had a max, Rondo didnt get it either. All guys who are more proven, and have achieved more in this league, yet Lowry will get more than them. Sure.
They gave up a package that could have gotten a star in their prime. Instead that package went to an old KG and old Pierce. It was a mistake. No, what the Celtics do with the picks does not matter, but the fact that the Celtics could pry away that much for three older players all out of their prime is ridiculous. The Nets should have been more patient. What if they waited and they had that package to trade for Kevin Love now? Which by the way, this whole K. Love thing was expected to happen, everyone was waiting for it. There are also other players who might be leaving their teams next offseason who want the max in a sign and trade, could have use the assets to get them. Just because no other move was there at the time doesn't make it the right move. The right move at times is not making a trade. They weren't patient and overpaid for 0 quality players. On top of that, they also paid for a rental. How many years will they get out of these players? If you trade that much, again, it should be close to the 5 years a star can sign onto for and for a star in their prime.
Thats not getting "fleeced". You only get "fleeced" when you give up what the Knicks gave up for Carmelo Anthony, when they didnt have to give up a damn thing AT ALL to begin with. The Knicks got fleeced, the Nets did not.
Not an NBA fan but I did grow up watching the Nets out on LI so if I've had rooting interest all these years--minimal--it's the Nets. Having said that, I hope Jason Kidd goes to the Bucks and endures 5 years of losing basketball in a decrepit facility with no way to attract even B level talented free agents. GFY you ungrateful drunk driving dick. Nice stepping on another coach with 2 years left on his contract--am sure the coaching fraternity loves you too. _
I know his first wife and kid. Not the best husband/dad in the world either. That guy can't lose enough for my tastes. _
Jason Kidd WTF is this guy thinking. Never mind he doesn't put in the time to learn the trade before jumping to head coach but then he demands to run the whole franchise, all in the span of 1 year? That's some kind of misplaced arrogance and delusions of grandeur
