The concept of "deserve" in a capped sport is inapposite.

He "deserves" $100 million a year.

But in a capped sport he needs to manage what he makes as it relates to the salaries around him in order to allow him to win.

I think you're just not accepting that.

But that's not what he wants. He wants to be a billionaire. He needs to win. Not make an extra $7 million a year for 7 years.

You're taking the word "deserve" at its exact definition. I get it, if this was an open market, LeBron would common north of $40 million per year. I'm speaking in regards to the current cap and the impact he has had on the franchise he is on. He did the same when left Cleveland. The Cavs lost millions annually when he left. He brings money everywhere he goes. A guy like that "deserves", in relation to the situation he is in, $30 million a year.

Houston is suddenly becoming a very intriguing spot for LeBron to land:

The Rockets already have the league's best guard-center tandem (Harden-Howard), solid young role players (Chandler Parsons, who is set to become a restricted free agent, Patrick Beverley and Terrence Jones) and an owner (Les Alexander) who is willing to spend. Houston also has all of its first-round picks for the next couple of years as well as a knack for finding talent late in the draft.

Like Florida, Texas has no state income tax, negating Miami's advantage on that front.

I've been reading up on random sports stuff today, and I have a question about Michael Jordan. Hopefully someone can answer it.

Now I know that he came back, and played 2 seasons with the Wizards. I also know that before that, he was working in the FO. I read his title was President of Basketball Operations. Ok, I get all that, but here is the part that I can't seem to understand. Did he hold that title, and then go on to ALSO be a player? Or when he started playing again, did he have to relinquish that role? I was hardly a teenager during this time, and wasn't much into the NBA.

No, he gave up that role to return to play. Here is a piece of the story that shows it:

"Jordan's camp claims that Pollin betrayed Jordan and broke his word. "There was no question that there was an oral commitment and understanding that Michael was going to come back and assume the same position when he came back," Polk said."

Good point made by some analysts. If LeBron James was not with Miami right now and was a free agent, would he choose Miami's roster over Houston's? Would anyone?

He would walk into a roster with a true big man, Dwight Howard, and a healthy young point guard, James Harden. He would have the bench he wants with Chandler Parsons, Patrick Beverly, and Terrance Jones. New ownership and no income tax.

God, it just makes so much sense. Best scoring big man/point guard duo in the NBA.

Damn Tony Parker was nearly a Celtic. Back in the draft the Celtics were about to draft him, he said a lady came up to him and handed him the Celtics hat and told him the Cetlics were going to pick him. A minute later she came back and took the hat and told him they changed their minds.

Yeah and I'm sure they were fuckin pissed as hell. In 2001, the Celtics had two picks before Parker was taken. Those two picks? Kedrick Brown and Joseph Forte. Two guys that had as much of an impact on the game of basketball as my left toe nail.

Thanks man. I was thinking that would be crazy if he had both positions at once, and it would surely make for some awkward behind the scenes things.

Yeah that entire story in Washington was weird. Jordan becomes part of front office, then decides to play again, looks nothing like vintage Jordan, wants his job back when finally done, front office has a falling out with him, he leaves Washington. Just weird.

I can't see that happening for about 1000 different reasons.

I only said it because an ESPN article said it would be his best option. Its not farfetched, it would require I believe Diaw and Mills to be gone and then Tim Duncan to opt out and come back for a little less.

    Not a chance it happens.

The Spurs could bring back Diaw and Mills and probably sign a mid level free agent and all three of their contracts wouldn't equal what Lebron will make with new deal.

Take it for what it is:

“If there’s a way I can jump on that Spurs roster then I can get on that road to the NBA championship. Hopefully it becomes soon, I’m 25 now, maybe when I’m 26.”-Kevin Love

If Love wants to join the Spurs, he can, and no one can stop him. As long as Duncan retires at the end of next year the Spurs could bring in Love for the 2015-2016 season.
