    Good share asbcheeks.

What a travesty. If the NCAA can strip Reggie Bush of his Heisman and the Trojan's 2004 football championship then the least they can do is strip North Carolina's fraudulent 2005 basketball title! It seems the only question left is how many other championships of theirs should be stripped as well. I need my faith in collegiate sports to be restored and to that end, the powers that be must rein in the blatant cheating going on at the University of North Carolina. Someone/anyone must restore some semblence of institutional control down in Chapel Hill! Please….somebody do something about North Carolina. I pray for them…

I believe most of the top programs are dirty and the mud slinging from program to program is pretty silly... But what UNC is doing is shameful.

I'm not talking about the fake classes and the fraudulent grades, so much either, as I bet that is pretty standard across the board. I'm talking about the means they are taking to hide these things. That professor who brought this stuff to light was forced to shut down her research and ultimately bullied by the administration to the point where she couldn't take it anymore and left her job. That's bullshit. This is a state employee holding her fellow state employees accountable and the University tried to destroy her credibility. That is not right. Basketball might make the money, but those actions are shameful if you want to have any credibility as a University - especially since it's a public university..If I was a North Carolina taxpayer I'd be furious.

Now you have McCants basically backing up her research with first-hand account!

Agreed. What UNC did to Mary Willingham was disgraceful.

Former North Carolina basketball star Rashad McCants claims that a series of sham courses and excessively helpful tutors allowed him to stay academically eligible, a damaging admission for a school already embroiled in an massive academic scandal.

There's no evidence because the University wouldn't allow the woman compiling that evidence to continue!

Are you really saying that a rational person should trust the word of the individuals that benefitted from such actions?

if yes - - At the nuremberg trials would it have been rational to trust the word of Hitler's ex SS comrades that he was doing nothing illegal? Or don't you think it was a good decision to not listen to his best friends when analyzing his tenure...

Hey--where did you go to school? Better watch out, our resident UNC apologist will just start attacking YOUR program in order to deflect.

I thought it was an interesting story and figured where there's that much smoke, there's got to be a little fire.

Junc's response? "Better watch out because I'll start telling secrets about former SU players that I KNOW got illegal benefits".

Who gives a fuck about what an SU player did or what a Duke player did? Every program has it's dirt--trying to implicate another program is a weak and sorry attempt to deflect that the story now is UNC.

    UNC.

    Period.

Let's try to have an intelligent adult discussion--complaining about how a poster doesn't post after Duke loses in the first round just looks silly. To be fair, it's obvious that the Dookie is taking extreme enjoyment out of this bad press, but still--the story is now UNC.

And again, I am no where near giddy about this. I don't need an ACC team--any ACC team--to be under any fire right now.

it's not silly, that poster(who used to be a good one) doesn't show up when his scool loses in the 1st rd 2 of 3 years, nowhere when the Lance Thomas stuff comes out or the sociology scandal but he's front and center when something is negative towards UNC. it's not deflecting, it's a valid point.

the story is a disgruntled ex-player w/ absolutely no evidence. not a single player from KU or UNC has come forward to side w/ McCants. That should tell you something.

when there is evidence to support his claims I will change my tune.

No, it's not. None of that.

You're shooting the messenger--I don't even know who Lance Thomas is, I have no idea how often Duke has gotten knocked out in early rounds and I don't think I've ever read any other posts by this poster.

He obviously is relishing in this angst heaped on a hated rival.

But none of what you typed there has any validity to the issue being discussed.

Straight A's, Dean's List in African Studies and a bunch of D's and F's in non-African Studies courses.

He's obviously not very bright if he failed courses or got D's.

He cannot be THAT bright that he got straight A's and made Dean's List.

No. Not at the University of North Carolina.

I know extremely and immensely bright kids that don't have a chance of getting into that school. This guy got straight A's? All by himself?

    Really?

Lance Thomas was on duke's 2010 title team, he took $150,000 in jewelry his senior season.

None of that stuff has been proven.

    .

UNC is demonstrating its preference for public-relations spin rather than candor, contrition, and real change.

I thought I saw pictures of his transcript? I have to admit--it was on ESPN and I saw it in passing.

Is the school denying his grades or that he made Dean's List?

Or just that he didn't receive help writing papers or did not attend classes?

Because arguing that he didn't receive help or that somone didn't write papers for him or he didn't go to class is open to interpretation.

But if he got 5 A's (which I saw a screen shot of) and made Dean's List (which I saw a screen shot of) then how exaclty can they deny that? Said differently, what further needs to be proven--WITH RESPECT TO HIS GRADES?

That's incredibly weak--even by your standards. So your defense of UNC and McCants is that others did it? LOL.

Btw--taking $150,000 in jewlery (have no idea if true) is no where NEAR as bad as the allegations leveled by Willingham and confirmed by McCants.

Who really believes he didn't know?!?

    Come on--what a disgrace.
