    :::::::::::::::::::SPOLIER ALERTS:::::::::::::::::

Couldn't help but laugh along with Arya..

    Want to see it again?

I'm sure heads don't make that noise when they crush

Question: If the Mountain does live, is he himself now condemend to death for the Murder and rape of Prince Oberyn's wife and children. Also does this put Tywin in the ca-ca?

Holy shit that was epic. Best part was Stannis being the most likeable character left with a "swag rating of 14/100" haha

I don't think so. This was a trial by combat and these two were chosen as the fighters. It was The Mountains job to attempt to kill the other guy in order to win the trial. I can't see them holding him for murder just because Oberyn was a prince.

He didn't mean for killing Oberyn, he meant for his confession to the rape and murder of Oberyn's sister and children.

Oh ok. That makes sense then. My mistake. I read it wrong.

I don't know about that. I don't think he's gonna live from that stab wound. I don't know what's gonna happen with Tywin either.

Yeah. You saw how excited he got when Oberyn stabbed the Mountain on the ground? He's rooting like hell for Tyrian.

Anyone see this happening? Jamie Lannister hooking up with the Queen of Dragons?

I have been rooting for Stannis all the way. Sure he is kinda boring and hooked up with a cultist, but he really is the true king. Plus he has the best sense of justice on the show and wants the throne because it is his duty, not for selfish reasons. He's had some epic moments as well, especially if you know his history from the books. Holding Storm's End through Robert's rebellion by surviving on leather and rats until Davos brought them onions. Despite this, Robert gave Storm's End to Renly, but did Stannis hold this against Robert? Not really. Just quietly did his duty and held Dragonstone and served on the King's Council. Defeating Balon at sea, which is supposed to be the Iron Islands strength. And he would have taken Kings Landing if not for a brilliant, while kind of deus ex machina, plan by Tyrion. Not to mention he figured out that Joffrey was a bastard and fled town before his head could end up on a spike, something Ned Stark and Jon Arryn were not smart enough to do.

But like that FB poster said, he has zero "swag", so I'm sure he has little to no chance of winding up on top. But that's my guy

It was so obvious that he was going down too--the GF was so happy he'd won and I said--whoawhoawhoa hold on, it's not over! Just as he started to dance around the Mountain.

    Friggin idiot.

OK...need some help from the Book Readers and Show Watchers.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the TV show.

I am normally a book-first guy (loved HP books, generally disappointed with the movies). Initially, I didn't read the books, because they seemed to have too much fantasy-speak for me. Now that I am addicted to the show, I am resistant to read the books, because I don't want to be spoiled.

However, I am constantly finding myself looking up stuff on the Game of Thrones Wiki, so I can better understand the character relationships, mythology (white walkers, Bran's power, etc), geography, etc. I am thinking about reading the books as a companion to the show, to help fill in the blanks and provide more depth. If I do this, I plan to keep pace with the show (i.e. I would only read up through Storm of Sword until the show progresses further.)

    So here are my questions:

    1) Are there any spoilers in the first 3 books that have not occurred in the show yet (this season's conclusion not withstanding)?

    2) Is reading the books likely to detract at all from the TV show (really do not want this to happen)?

I am heading to Italy for 2 weeks soon (leaving just before the last episode!) and figured "A Game of Thrones" might be good to take with me. If not, I'll just bring something else to read.

    Thanks for any thoughts.

I stopped watching the show after last season, but it stays "pretty much" true to the book.

Show pumps up the White Walkers a little bit more.

A big question in the books is who are Jon Snow's parents, but that hasn't come up at all in the show (as far as I remember).

I'm in the minority, but I would recommend not reading them until Martin finishes. He has slowed down on his writing and is showing no urgency to stay ahead of the show, which is rapidly catching up to him. Waiting a season for a show is one thing, waiting 3+ years between books is another. (He is about a month away from 3 years since the last book for whatever that is worth).
