Is having his knee scoped, will have to make do with Dozier for now.

I'm told RG Willie Colon will be sidelined 6 weeks (knee surgery), but will "definitely" be ready to take field by TC. #Jets

Then it's not ACL, good news. We're still going to need one of the depth guys to make quick progress, I doubt Colon lasts the whole season

Needed to to do it sooner or later, why not sooner?

  5. Yeah I was disappointed that Aboushi was reportedly starting over Campbell. I thought Campbell looked much better than Aboushi all last preseason & brings great size to the position at 6'6 320. Aboushi is more athletic. But he needed to come a LONG way w/ his technique & strength..especially as an anchor. Let's hope the Redshirt did him some good & he steps up

Not sure about Campbell, he had a hard cast on his arm a couple of days ago. Reportedly.

Colon is a road grater with a bad attitude, which is great for the run game. But he's a liability in the passing game.

Does he really grate road cheese? I haven't ever tasted a Road Cheese Enchilada, but I have eaten dog so I'm flexible.

Not to worry--We have Dexter McDougle. The jets used our third round pick on McDougle (ranked 256th overall) instead of the guy I wanted, massive OG Gabe Jackson (ranked 30th overall). Oakland grabbed Jackson with the very next pick after we foolishly passed on him for a small CB who barely played his senior year. When I pointed that out after the draft, this board lit up on what a wise move the jets made taking McDougle; I realize the jets didn't foresee Colon getting injured, but I sure would have taken Jackson and it looks like he would been a wiser choice now.

the jets knew what they were getting into with Colon, they knew last year as well. they just seem to trust the OG depth available a little better than we do.

just as well, whats to say Jackson would be any more a solution than Aboushi or anybody else? I mean last years third round guard struggled, why would he be exempt? maybe he could have been a building block for the future but in 2014 things are all relative I'd say, he's no more proven than those who will be called to play next man up.

I'm not saying the team couldn't have done more to bolster the o-line or that the jets are right to believe in their current roster, I'm just saying that they DO and have probably fathomed the notation that Colon might be out and they need a replacement going forward anyhow.

You make it seem like they didn't plan for this, Colon has had an injury history and is coming off an injury I doubt they didn't think this might happen wether they drafted Jackson or not.

Man, I was about to get really worried when I saw someone talking with confidence about a player they wanted in the draft. I was sweating it hard, I was worried that somebody with more than a mosquito brain knew without doubt that the Jets should have drafted someone other than McDougle.

Then I saw your username, and I realized this should have been flushed down a toilet, because you are a halfhead.

Hopefully, this will be a blessing in disguise in that it will give Freeman, Campbell, Aboushi and Dozier more reps at OG and then with the extra reps and attemtion, at least one of them will step up and show that he can get the job done.

Negative. Colon will be back for training camp so it wouldn't have mattered. It's funny how easy things seem in retrospect. Shoulda done this, shoulda done that. There's a reason Idzik is the GM. For the record, I think McDougle will prove the doubters wrong. The draft is pretty much a crap shoot anyways, there's no guarantee that Gabe Jackson does anything at all on the NFL level. You shouldn't aim your draft picks toward who might get injured anyways.

Glad to hear that Colon will be back for the season. As mentioned above, this gives our younger guys a chance to catch up to him. Hopefully they make good use of their opportunity. Building that line depth is critical, and since the early 2000's, it hasn't been the same. If Colon heals completely (a really, really big if), then this could work out well for the Jets by allowing our homegrown talent to develop while getting a starting quality guy back.

LOL I agree, but am trying to find something to be positive about. If we can't be positive and optimistic about the team at this point in the season, when can we be?
