It looks like Willie Colon will be out for awhile, he injured his knee during a workout and will have to have arthroscopic surgery on it. (Check it on Google.) I'm not sure if it was an ACL tear (let's hope not) but in any event he is expected to miss significant playing time. Can the o-line get by without him, or do you think we will now have major problems there? Who do you think the Jets will look to for a replacement?
Sounds like he'll be fine by pre season at least. Even then we'll rest him, and be careful. That said, it's no secret he is injury prone. We were very fortunate last year. I really hope the oline picks we've made are going to pay off, because chances are that at least one of the ol won't start every game.
Yeah.. Hopefully we can get someone decent when teams make their final cutdowns, if not sooner. Harder to get a replacement mid-season. We still don't know if he's done for the season, or if he might just miss September.
Sheeet! ….already?! From the "Offensive Line" thread: If Colon gets hurt, he gets hurt - you play the hand you're dealt, I realize that. But still, I wished they shored up the OL depth (specifically OG). Like with Trai Turner this year, I'm the same whiner who pitched for Chance Warmack last year as well haha… (get offensive weapons yes, but also build "around the ball" as well). Get well Willie, and soon.
Well there are a bunch of OL that are going to compete for that spot. Don't love the idea of Winters manning on spot with an unproven player on the other side, but hopefully they can contribute.
Willie watching is like waiting for the other shoe to drop. Now it's up on the table along with his leg.
I hope we have some people step up, otherwise I can easily see our O-line situation become a trainwreck. If you liked seeing a raw QB with no WR's, you'll love seeing him with an ass O-line.
Hey it's way better than the Cowboys. Sean Lee tore his ACL in a non contact drill and he's done for the year. Colon will probably be back early in the season.
Oday, Dakota and younger Willie, COME ON DOWN! this is where one of the projects has a chance to make a name for themselves. Its likely that either Oday Aboushi or William Campbell will be second on the RG depth chart. I've heard Aboushi was starting for today, but I'm betting thats not set in stone. Its hard to feel objectively confident about these guys seeing as how they've never seen a snap of meaningful football, but we have to hope they've worked on their own technique in the meanwhile. they are the future of the position either way unless a Giacomini type or clear Guard prospect revels themselves, its time to see how they are under more important circumstances.
they have, just... not with a higher pick or big named free agent guard. once again, its all fear over what we don't know, our OG situation is Schrodinger's Offensive lineman, wherein one of our backup guards is both talented AND poor until we open up that box and find out which... or something...
Man, it's a good thing you were clamoring for a guard in the first round, right? That would totally justify your post.
