With there being at least some measure of uncertainty regarding the readiness of our defensive backfield as a whole to perform at a high level when we begin the regular season (particularly with certain hoped for contributors still being green around the edges) would it be a good idea to invite Ed Reed to camp to either play on a full or part-time basis or at least as a coach?

If they plan on bringing him back it will definitely be after OTAs and probably be during TC. Not out of the question.

I wouldn't mind him back. Seemed to help Milliner and could be a good influence on Pryor as well.

Time to move on, let the coaches teach our young guys, some things can't be taught, the guy is going to the hall of fame, if those abilities were transferable all the teams would be doing it.

Ed Reed deserves a spot at a retirement home......not training camp.

Yea I don't want Reed taking snaps away from Pryor. I wouldn't mind him around in a mentor type role but I don't trust that Rex would put him on the bench so F that.

For sure there are things that can't be taught or "transferred" but is it out of the question to believe that some things of value can, even if it is purely in the role of coach/adviser as opposed to player?

Wasting a roster spot on a washed up "good influence" for Pryor isn't worth it.Ed Reed just looks old and tired he looks like he's 50

I doubt Reed would be talking snaps away from Pryor. Pryor would just shift to SS for most snaps.

I hope he is signed at vet minimum. His leadership might help our young secondary.

Agreed. I also can't really see Rex even considering putting Reed out there if he was perceived to be a liability in any way and not able to make a worthwhile impact on at least a part time basis.

Essentially he will take snaps away from Antonio Allen.

That said, I want to see Pryor at FS and Allen at SS for 16 games this season, bring Landry in for those 3 safety packages.

Some people last year thought his signing interfered with Allen's development. I think the guy can still make plays. I've seen some NFL film on him in his earlier years in particular a piece on the Patriots preparing for the Ravens. And all they talked about was how good a player Ed Reed was. I don't think he was terrible last year. Wouldn't mind re-signing him.

Reed can mentor Pryor and Allen and the rest of the DB's for a year. Plus he provides a veteran leader in the locker room this is a young team but sprinkling a few vets here and there isn't gonna hurt.

I hate expressions like this,"our young secondary" it sounds like a 52 year old father teaching his 5 year old to ride a bike without training wheels. There grown men getting paid millions ,Ed Reeds presence won't make any kind of diffrence, how many incentives should one person need to succeed?Pryor will be a beast with or without Ed Reed and his wrinkled skin and white beard

I wouldnt mind Reed taking snaps away from Allen if he is indeed better, as he was last year. However, one year later Reed coulda slowed down even more.
