Citifield should just be demolished at this point, has there ever been a worse stadium in the history of sports? Lagares also sitting for the 2nd straight day while 2 Youngs we already know are terrible continue to garner ABs. I may have been wrong about Collins being unable to do any damage this year.
Believe what you want but the facts show this team can't win there. 2 out of the past 3 years they've finished over .500 on the road and under .500 at home, only 2 other teams have done that once in the 3 years. The league average at home has been +4, +6 and +6 and the Mets have been -9, -2 and -8 and are well on their way to another negative year.
the "struggling" lagares produces more runs in 2 ABs than the entire Mets team has the last 3 games, good thing he was benched for a week so TC could get all the Mets big bats in the lineup.
Lagares has been my favorite player since last May. He should start almost every game so long as he is healthy and batting at least .220. He deserves the action based on his defensive ability.
Having dinner and watching the game tonite with Sandy Alderson. Pretty cool event, hope the rain passes through. On field for batting practice, dinner with Sandy and then watching from his private box with his lieutenants. Very pumped, the guy I'm going with has met him before, said he's a brilliant guy and extremely confident in himself. Anyone have any questions for him? I've got a bunch. _
A)Why did you sign Bartolo Colon? The team is rebuilding, what's the point of a fat 41 year old steroid abuser? B)Why did you sign Chris Young? The guy has never been able to get on base and he's not about to start now? Did you think you were bringing back the pitcher and got stuck with the wrong Chris Young? C)Will the Mets have a winning season before 2020?
Pretty cool night, sat in Alderson's box and me and 3 friends literally watched the whole game with Sandy, JP Riciardi and John Ricco. Just us. BSed all game, was really interesting. These guys are fans at heart just with a billion times more experience and responsibility. Sandy is very bright and incredibly engaging, Riciardi was pretty funny, very deferential to Alderson and Ricco was a bit quiet until about the 5th innning and then even he started to chip in alot. It was basically a 3+ hour Q and A session in between picthes and you can tell who they like and who they have issues with. But during the action, they were fans just like us--cheering, questioning calls, dropping shit-bombs when a player screwed up, or a "come on, SWING at that" or marveled at plays by the Dodgers, especially the catch by Puig. Lots of stories from the money ball A's, JP's time with the Blue Jays, thoughts on current players, the fences, the park, taking calls from Fred, talked about our kids and careers, the lack of money (they get it BTW), upcoming propects, Harvey, etc. Sandy is a pacer, never sat the whole night, would disappear for half an inning, would come back and pick right up on the conversation. Was charging my iPhone back where the food was, it started ringing and Sandy called out to me and said "hey, I think your daughter is calling". JP kept taking calls, one went something like "is he a senior? yeah, I told you he was throwing too many pitches...call me back next week and we'll come take a look..."). I mean, they were just conducting baseball business right in front of us. Started with on field for BP, met D'Arnaud (said he's ok--looks like he's 18), Recker (wide dude), Duda (big dude), Granderson, Lagares, Tejada, Flores, few others--and the best as always Wright. Incredible guy, he stops and talks to everyone in an earnest and sincere manner--there was one kid with his parents, obviously very ill and Wright was talking to them for about 15 mins. We were talking to Jay Horowitz for a bit just watching this and he excuses himself, goes into the dugout, grabs a bat and brings it over to Wright who then give is to the kid and the kid could not have looked happier. Sat in the dugout for a while, grabbed handfulls of bubble gum (when they go on road trips, the guys giving us the tour said they bring literally 3000 tubs of them--he said "take as many as you want"), tour of the underground batting cage (Daniel Murphy hit pitches for the whole time we were there--must have seen him hit 100 balls), warm-up area, the player video room (saw Duda watching clips of the Dodger pitcher), Jonathan Neise just aimlessly strolling around in sweats and flip flops with headphones on just getting mentally prepared, the SNY Press Conference Room, up to the Acela Club for dinner (didn't realize Sandy thought we were just going to eat in his box so when we got there we had extra food we coudln't eat) and then just watched the game. Great night and great game. _
Wow that's so cool. I'm so jealous. I got a baseball signed by David and I was on cloud 9. If I got to experience what you did I'd die. Congrats and thanks for sharing. On to today's game. Risp and the Mets keep failing.
He really is one of the most sincere professional athletes you'll ever meet. The FO guys were saying how Jeter had just hit that plateau years ago and as nice as he is, he's basically above everyone else. Wright, not so much, he really and truly is that down to earth great guy. He could not have been nicer talking to us. I met him 4 years ago and he looks like the same guy now. Wish they'd bring the freaking fences in for him. _
