Didn't think we would be this high. These don't mean shit, but it is cool to see. Dolphins ranked 32nd LOL "In 2013, the New York Jets were the least dangerous, least explosive offensive team in football. They averaged a fourth-worst 18.1 points scored per game; sometimes they even looked lucky to be doing that well. This season, the Jets' projected skill-position starters are Michael Vick, Chris Johnson, Eric Decker and second-round rookie tight end Jace Amaro. That's a dangerously illegal concentration of weapons-grade athleticism. Can offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg pull it all together in an effective way? Did head coach Rex Ryan, between free agency and the draft, get enough raw talent in the door to do his thing? The answer to at least one of those questions is sort of, yes—especially with the Jets taking safety Calvin Pryor in the first round and cornerback Dexter McDougle in the second."
Dolphins ranked 32nd means shit See 2013 Jets...Power Rankings in Football for the most part do not matter.
The teams they've ranked 32nd over the past few years have ended up being a lot better than people think. '13 Jets, '12 Colts, '11 Bengals.
I know this lol I was just pointing out that they were ranked last. I specifically said in my OP that I know these rankings don't mean anything.
Leave it up to a Miami player to tweet something neg about Sam I mean their issues last year didn't teach em anything... what a joke
The only power ranking I'm looking at right now is Jets and Raiders game 1 and for now I have the Jets in the 1 spot on that list.
That's pretty cool. I thought we'd be underrated again because we didn't get a WR stud and how the offseason went. I think 13th is very reasonable, though I think we can be 12th and above too (to make the playoffs). Offense should be better this year, with the additions and either Geno developing or Vick playing, but I still wouldn't expect too much out of it in terms of passing. Would be great if we could run the ball like crazy with Johnson and Ivory and Goodson. Where I am really excited is the defense though. I think if a few things break our way, we can become a dominant defense this upcoming year. Cornerbacks are the biggest thing, I think if Milliner plays like he did at the end of the season, and if McDougle stays healthy and validates FO's trust in him, that would really change up the whole dynamic of our pass defense. Then Coples playing well the entire year, Harrison repeating last year's effort, Richardon improving his pass rushing. If all or most of those things happen and barring major injuries, I would not want to play our defense next season. Also, my guess would be Vick only sees playing time if Geno plays like he did in the middle of last season. Everything about Idzik seems to say long-term building, so it makes no sense to plug in an injury prone over the hill veteran over a young developing player unless the guy is just dying out there. One way or another, we gotta decide whether Geno is a long term answer or do we look for someone else by the end of this upcoming season.
I agree power rankings are pretty stupid. If nothing else I feel like a lot of "experts" were made to look like fools by their predictions last year and now are trying to give themselves a bit more of a cushion if they have us as a borderline playoff team and we make the playoffs they look great and if we finish around where we finished this year then it's not so far off they look dumb.
Holy crap, we're not in the bottom 10! Actually, quite a lot of people are giving the Jets an A on the draft, and saying they had the best draft in the AFC east, despite the Bills getting Watkins.
Not that Id like to stick up for the Fins but they arent the worst team in the league..and they dont have the least talented team in the league. Although their draft was pretty mediocre. As for the Jets, ranking aside, its pretty unreal to look at the difference between last offseason and this offseason in terms of skill players. I want to see ESPN's rankings lol.
I would honestly be happy if 4 of the 12 pan out into above avg players... sure it would be nice to think we found 12 solid contributors but we all know that isn't gonna happen as it never does... heck if we hit on half god bless us but 4 is a solid number I think to hope for
Sports talk down here in South Florida is saying good things about the Jets and crapping all over the Fish. It's pretty damn refreshing for a change.
