Based on the numbers Geno was more productive. He has a better arm, Manziel has to put his whole body into his throws. Geno is a student of the game and is a gym/video rat. Geno during college never threw more than 7 INT's in a season. Manziel is a celebrity QB. He has to be good to stick in the league. If he sucks he'll probably flame out ala Tebow. As for Bortles, Geno has a strong arm, better athleticism, and is more accurate and he has much better touch on his throws with a better delivery.
this class will prove to be very overrated, Geno would have been a 1st rounder/maybe slid into rd 2 just like last year.
Overrated just like last years QBs. Manual and Smith were horrible in their first years. Both would have been second rounders at best this year. Don't forget that Bridgewater was expected to be the #1 pick in the draft if he came out last year so I think he and Bortles would still be ahead of Manual and Smith.
I'd guess in the second. I'd put him on par with Teddy/Manziel/Bortles, perhaps a tiny amount behind them.
You are wrong on just about every front. Manziel played 2 years to Geno's 3 1/4 and Geno only accounted for about 5 more TDs and had Manziel stayed another year his passing yards would have surpassed Genos and when you add in the rushing stats it's not even close. In a FAR superior conference playing aginst future pros on a weekly basis. Not even counting the Heisman. And your comment that Manziel is a "celebrity QB" detracts form you comment about "logic", thay's just your emotion because you don't like the guy and you love Geno. The gym/video rat is something you just read somewhere. You don't know how much either of them studies and how much either of them retains. Geno may study 100 hours a week and retain less than Johnny does in an hour--but you're just specutalting based off of nothing that you have any knowledge about. Your comments on Bortles are LOLworthy. Bortles has just as strong of an arm as Geno, is 10X more athletic, a much better runner, is more accurate, has much better touch both in the pocket and on the run and if you think Geno has a better delivery than Bortles, then you need a new HD TV. Not to mention Bortles is a beast of a man compared to Geno. And his football IQ dwarfs Geno's. NO ONE is taking Geno over Bortles in this draft. _
The real question is where would EJ Manuel have gone? Clearly would have been behind the Top 3 QB's but maybe even further than that.
Johnny Manziel 68.9 completion, 7820 yards, 63 TD's, 22 INT's Geno Smith's last two seasons 69 completion, 8590, 73 TD's, 13 INT's Stats don't tell the whole story but it counts for something. Geno in college was a better prospect than Manziel. Manziel is a celebrity with a ton of hype. Manziel may be a solid pro but he's overrated. Blake Bortles in 3 years as a starter. 65.7 completion, 7598 yards, 56 TD's, 19 INT's Geno Smith in 3 years as a starter 68 completion, 11,353 yards, 97 TD's, 20 INT's Bortles has mechanical issues with his footwork, and his release and he's not the athlete that Geno is as far as running the ball, scrambling in the pocket to buy time. He has a stronger arm, better release and he has a much higher iq.
Manziel scored 32 on the Wonderlic Bortles 28 Geno 24 Bridgewater 20 None of that tells you about football IQ. It just tells you that about a person's logical reasoning, vocabulary, grammer and ability to sort under pressure. If the NFL really wants to assess football intelligence for a QB they should setup drills in which the playing field moves in predictable patterns in front of the QB and see how he reacts to that.
Those last 2 seasons were Geno's junior and senior year AFTER he played a bit as a freshman (when Manziel won the Heisman) and an entire sophomore year. Silly comparison. Compare their FIRST two years and they are LOLworthy. Geno was never a better propect than Manziel, you can continue to repaet it but you're worng. He got drafted 39th overall in an incredibly weak QB class. He is the prospect where he landed. And continuing to repeat Manziel is a cleebrity is irrelevant--he performed ON the field and was taken in the first round in a MUCH stronger QB class. Your comments about Bortles reflect that you've never seen him play--you've just read some articles. He is a much better athlete than Geno and is so much more effective extending plays and making positive plays--Geno runs backwards too often and does not have good awareness of where he is on the field at times. Bortles release is more compact than Geno's and his football IQ dwarfs Genos. But other than that, spot on. _
I used Geno's last 2 years since those were his two most recent seasons in comparison to Manziel's most recent 2 seasons. And if you're gonna put so much stock into draft position then I guess Tebow was a true first round prospect. In the grand scheme of things it means nothing. Bridgewater almost slipped to the 2nd round and he's the best QB in this draft class and I'd say even Derek Carr is a better prospect than Manziel and Bortles. Idk what Jacksonville was thinking and Manziel is a celebrity QB who benefitted from the Espn hype machine. He's Colt McCoy 2.0. Geno is a better pure passer than both those guys, more accurate as well. If we're comparing prospects based on the eye test and by the stats Geno was the better prospect.
Manziel is the more accurate QB in my opinion, but you could make an argument that Geno has the strongest arm out of any of the prospects. He's also got good physical size. Carr has a ridiculous good arm too, his release is faster. I like Carr a lot actually, but I think Geno handles pressure a little better.
That's subjective I do remember Geno throwing darts into some really tight windows and throwing passes over 2 or 3 defenders that only his receiver had a chance to catch. Geno had/has a better arm.
I've seen passes where he's missed wide open receivers in both college and the NFL. I never said Geno was inaccurate all of the time, but his accuracy can be inconsistent at times and over-sails receivers. That prob attributes to his footwork and fundamentals, but plenty of times Geno missed wide open receivers his rookie year. The guy can def throw darts though.
Geno was and is a better prospect. Geno dropped because he had a couple good games after starting the season looking like a lock #1 pick in the draft, and that hurt him a lot. Then he skipped the Senior Bowl, and with additional bad advice from his handlers, do not do as well in the interviews. Yes he struggled at times but what Geno did last year with literally no practive, no continuity and no talent was pretty amazing.
Peyton overthrows/misses players too. No one is gonna throw great passes 100% of the time. But for the most part Geno was accurate in college. In the pros he's had his moments too.
Manziel won his heisman his second year of college not first (R-FR). In a typical year he wouldn't have won. That year had a lack of stardom. He actually had a better year last year statistically right? I just love his star like attitude.
Peyton may miss receievers once in a blue moon, but not compared to Geno Smith. Completion % is not a indication of accuracy. Geno's short and intermediate accuracy is questionable, he can hit a receiver down the field which is nice. Geno had some good games last season, but let's not forget the stretch where he couldn't complete 10 passes.
Stop-you're just a Geno homer--there is no way he was or is a better prosect than either of them. He had a few great games against the likes of Marshal and James Madison--who even knew James Madison played football--and wehen it came to the real season he was simply very good--not toehrwordly agains the Sisters of the Poor. You keep believing he was the number 1 pick. Too funny. _
Bridgewater in fact did NOT slip to the second round, a QB needy team jumped OVER 3 other QB needy teams to take him. In the first round. Remeber the other night when you were crowing about him NOT being a first rounder and slipping to the second round? Yeah, jumped the gun on that. Trading up into the first round--something no one did last year for Geno. In fact every QB needy team passed him twice--INCLUDING the Jets. The only thing Geno has on any of the top 4 QBs is arm strength and in the case of Carr--not even. Every single one of those guys is more accurate, has more touch, has a better/quicker release, and is more athletic. All in a superior class to last years. It's funny that you think Geno is more ahtletic or accurate than Manziel or Bortles. But the one thing all of the top 4 QBs have by a wide margin over Geno is football IQ. My favorite quote about Teddy was that there was nobody in this draft better in the 7 seconds before the snap and the 2-1/2 seconds after the snap than him. Nobody ever said that about Geno. No one says geno doesn't throwa great ball--it's all the other stuff he has to develop to get over the top--things all the other guys have. That you keep bringing up Tebow shows how LOLworthy your stance is. _
