Great fing pick. He's 26 but he's a really high motor situational pass rusher. I had him as our late 4th rounder in my final mock so this is a steal.
Super interesting profile - went on a Mormon mission and is 26, married, and with 2 kids (one of whom has cancer). http://www.nfl.com/draft/2014/profiles/trevor-reilly?id=2543676 STRENGTHS Very solidly built frame. Good functional playing strength to beat blocks and defend the run. Very solidly built frame. Good functional playing strength to beat blocks and defend the run. Locates the ball quickly and is around it a lot. Crashes the line hard and plays with energy. Flashes shock in his punch. Fine arm-under move to come underneath blockers and work the edges. Can control and disrupt tight ends. Takes good angles. Solid tackler. Ultra-tough, mentally and physically (played through ACL injury as a junior). Extremely competitive. Very good football intelligence -- can line up a defense. Versatile -- has played every LB position and can interchange with ease. Respected tone-setter. Outstanding work ethic. Identifies with the game. Ultra-competitive. WEAKNESSES Average athletic ability and lateral agility. Can be stymied by power. Stiff-hipped and robotic moving in reverse. Has limitations in man coverage and can be mismatched by athletic tight ends. Wore a brace on his right knee and plant strength did not appear at full strength. Had arthroscopic surgery on the knee following the season and will require closer medical evaluation. Overaged -- will be a 26-year-old rookie. Really labored in positional workout at his pro day, not showing burst or agility. DRAFT PROJECTION Rounds 4-5 BOTTOM LINE A country-strong, throwback, wrangler cowboy with the toughness desired to set the edge and the motor, intensity and competitiveness to produce effort sacks. Can factor as a 3-4 rush linebacker in an odd front or match up with tight ends as a strong-side linebacker in an even front. Could contribute readily as a situational rusher and, with continued strength gains, emerge as a DE prospect. Versatility is a plus.
No one fucking cares what Colt said about Sandy Hook...In fact that whole thing was pretty fishy. Just draft the guy and let him play. I hate this political BS as it relates to playing the game
At least boyd was a comp pick unlike when Miami drafted Pat White in the second rd in 2009. That's when Parcells knew he lost his mind.
Reilly is a great pick, went on one of those Missions, close to 26, married. His daughter has Kidney Cancer, pray for their family.
I only want high charcter players. Those are the one"s who win. When it is a7th rounder. Why even bother . Even if he did say it we have a franchise TE and cumberland is a good backup.
Tiny Richardson's knee injury must be disastrous given that he is still on the board while Easley and Kouandjio went early.
Idzik opens presser by acknowledging @MMehtaNYDN. "The real question is," Idzik said, "will anyone give him a ride?" http://t.co/jZzaEvxPni
Doggone it I almost guessed the team for Michael Sam. I had KC as a possibility cause of their proximity to Missouri, completely forgot the same thing would apply to the Rams too. Glad he actually got drafted, it would have been a bit of a black eye if he hadn't considering he was supposedly a mid-round pick before all this came out.
Both of Clemson's WR's got drafted before Boyd. DeAndre Hopkins also got drafted pretty high last year. So yeah he had a lot of help.
