I'm not going to disagree. I don't know much about amaro, I was a big fan of seferian Jenkins as well. I don't know much about amaro to disagree. When they made the pick I was encouraged just because it was offense. I hope you are wrong about him though And yes it's truly amazing that bradway has had his hands in every draft here since 2000
How was secondary not a need? How was tackling in the back 7 not a need? I hate idzik for the vick thing, and maybe he overpayed decker abit... but all his other moves arent worthy of much scrutiny Also, anyone who is worried about "next season" has a horrible short sighted and skewed view of this team and idzik's vision. Teams can turn around fast in the NFL, but the jets arent set up that way. we are building something sustainable. and we already have may more offensive weapons then a year ago
well, luckily, their will be football played beyond next season we didnt have 12 first round picks. cant fill every need
i'll add to that.... we didnt need a defensive lineman last year... with wilkerson, Ellis, couples on the roster and recently drafted... but that worked out pretty damn well. Safety may or not have been a huge need... but i would say tackling definitely was, especially in the secondary
yup... the guy also did a ton of blitzing at louisville... and rex has alwatys loved to blitz safetys and bring them into the box with single high saftey or cover 3 shells. i can see him doing alot of good things with pryor. also love having an elite tackler on the field. that ALWAYS helps. he forced alot of fumbles too. good to have guys like that.
Will somebody in the draftroom please switch Idzik's coffee from decaf to the good stuff with a shot of 5 hour energy in it for good measure?
Jets should have signed Desean Jackson instead of drafting a bunch of underwhelming possession receivers with no upside. I like Jalen Saunders, but he looks like a version of Kerley with open field moves. At least he can return punts. Still waiting for "playmakers" and don't tell me about Amaro. Rex / Johnny still haven't figured out you need to be able to score some fu-king points in this league to win. I have to say I disagree 100% with Idzik's apparent mid to late round philosophy. It's great that these guys have high character off the field. But in the late rounds I don't really care. Just give me some talent and upside.
Can't make everyone happy. I really liked some picks, OK with a few and head scratcher on a couple. I'm smart enough to wait and see how things turn out. I was on this same forum last year when Richardson was picked and 75% hated the pick. Pryor and Amaro were good picks to fill 2 big needs. McDougle was reach (only because of the injury), but he may turn out to be the surprise of this draft, I really liked the Kid. I think our Round 4 picks are going to be special.
What I love the most about the draft was all the competition we've added, we need safety help we brought in Pryor, needed CB's we addressed that, added a bunch of WR's, a big pass catching TE, some OL depth, and some pass rushers to boot. I'm going to watch a little tape on some of the players we picked that I have no idea about but overall I'm happy with it.
Deepest, most talented draft in years. We go in with 12 picks and "maneuverability" and this is what we get? Seriously, are you pleased with our haul? If so, honestly, I would like to know why. I know it'll take years for the truth to be borne out, but from where I stand, Tampa and SF knocked it out of the park. I would trade all 12 of our picks for Tampa's first 2, Mike Evans and Seferian-Jenkins.
Overall I am, Pryor is an impact player at a position we needed, Amaro brings size at 6'6 to the TE position and he moves pretty well for a guy his size. We added a bunch of receiving talent to compete in training camp with what we already had, McDougle is a guy I didn't know enough about to have an opinion on but I watched some of his tape and I think he's going to be a good one, probably our week 1 starter if he works hard enough. Trevor Reilly brings a high motor and might even get a few snaps on defense this year but I see him being a special teams ace. Can't comment on that Ikea dude I haven't watched any of his games but either way he's a late round pick and probably can contribute on special teams. The only pick I didn't like too much was Tajh Boyd, I get the value that he presented but we were pretty stout at QB depth with Vick and Simms, maybe he can develop into a starter down the road who knows.
We had so many picks I just don't think half will make the team. I like the Reilly pick and that was great value at 7. The two good size WR's Shaq and Enuwa are interesting. Both could be perfect fits for the WCO. If I'm Stephen Hill I'm worried. Rex and his coaching staff have a lot of work to do.
I think Simms is toast. He had his opportunity to show what he could do and he looked overwhelmed. Boyd threw for a lot of yards against great competition and it was a Rex pick so that means he is making the team. If they truly want to keep Simms they can stash him on the PS.
What's to say we can't turn this ship around quick and build something sustainable at the same time. We can be a playoff team next season, a big step in the right direction
