I'd like to see a WR like Bruce Ellington or Jared Abbrederis. I wouldn't even mind if they gave up a 6th to move up for one of them.
As nice as a WR would be, logically speaking anyone picked now will be buried behind Decker, Kerley, Amaro and Cumberland in most sets. I think Amaro was basically our receiving threat from the draft. At this point OL and LB are bigger needs. That and guys who will contribute to special teams.
I respectfully degree. If we find a talented wide receiver here Cumberland or Kerley could easily lose reps. Cumby unless he turns the corner on his drops will lose reps to Jace. We need a receiver and we need one in a draft as deep as this. You would rather have a punt returner or a kick returner than a bonafide guy who can start across from Decker and keep defenses honest? At least 4 of the wide receivers on our team probably can't crack most nfl rosters...As much as I can hate on the bills for trading away their future they certainly got EJ some weapons. And oh yeah, what if Kerley gets hurt again?
There is still a lot of value on the board particularly of OL. Along with the other names thrown out I'll add Brandon Thomas from Clemson. He will need a redshirt year to rehab the ACL but he was a projected round 2 prospect before the injury. I think round 4 brings us a WR, LB & OL not necessarily in that order.
Fingers crossed for a WR (or two) and some OL depth in this round. Not sure what they heck they're planning to do with nine day three choices but hoping that they'll find a few Kerley-type gems in the bottom of the draft.
Nice to have such a high pick to start off day three (and 9 total picks). Lot of decent QB prospects around such as Mettenberger, McCarron, Savage, and Murray. I wonder if the Jets are particularly high on any of them. Same goes with RBs. I like Devonta Freeman a lot and even with the addition of Chris Johnson, I wouldn't be upset with a back. Certainly some decent WRs too. Bruce Ellington, Jared Abbrederis, T.J. Jones or even Mike Davis (if his personality isn't deemed to be too much of an issue) could be good additions in the 4th. Martavis Bryant is still on the board too, but he just reminds me too much of Stephen Hill. OG David Yankey or OT Antonio Richardson could also be nice pickups for the line. There a lot of good LB prospects available too. Carl Bradford would be a great choice. Shayne Skov and Christian Jones would also be great additions. Jones seems like he has the game to handle coverage as well. Heck, there are some good CB prospects on the board and I wouldn't complain if they double-dipped since merely 9 were drafted. I'm a big fan of Rashaad Reynolds and Bashaud Breeland. There's also Keith McGill, Marcus Roberson, Jaylen Watkins and Antone Exum among others... Wow, the FO must have really liked McDougle to have him rated above all of these guys. Looking forward to seeing who they end up going with. It's nice to see the team with so many picks again. Lots of chances to find some contributors today.
I don't know if you guys have noticed but ALL three of our picks have been pre-draft visits the jets have brought in. I feel like the next couple picks might consist of the remaining players on that list: CB- K. McGill WR- W. Powell LB- C. Calabrese, S. Devitto, K. Pierre-Louis DE- L. Webster QB- L. Thomas
Thomas was soooooo sloppy at Tech, but he has loads of potential. He is worth a shot considering the Jets have so many picks. I like Murray, but he is frail. The Jets don't need another egg like Pennington and McElroy.
Logan Thomas is like the Tar Sands-- infinite potential, but you can't bank on getting anything back on whatever you invest.
Abbrederis is a flat out football player. I wonder if his concussion history is why he might slip. Concussions wiped out Ryan Swope's NFL Career, hopefully it doesn't do the same for Abbrederis. Can be a good no.4 or no.3 for a while if he's right and healthy.
I'd like two WRs in this round. Kinda pissed we didn't get one sooner and talent pool is already pretty depleted and only going to get worse. If we're anticipating drafting a guy who can help in the 6th or 7th round that is a long shot.
From here on out, I'm good with taking whoever the BPA is. We needed a CB, we got one, we needed a Playmaker, we got one, and Safety was a need and we got one.
Bruce Ellington (explosive wr, reminds me of a shorter Sammy Watkins) David Yankey (why the hell is he still available, what a steal) Abbrederis ( love his elusiveness, one of the reasons roby dropped in the draft) Colt lyerla (first round talent that we need to keep away from pats) Hopefully we target these players today.
My first tought when i see david yankey is does he have injury history? xd but we rly need a receiver
We should trade up just to ensure we pick him up. At this point a 1st round caliber player sitting in the 4th is worth a look. This is exactly how Cincy has so much depth cause they steal talent away in rounds like this
