How can you not like (Howard Cosell imitation)...MEL KI-PAH JUN-YA? When they made Mel they broke the mold.
Haha good analogy. For me, however, it's kind of the opposite. I used to detest Kiper and his hairstyle, but now I don't mind him so much. Not that I view him as my 'go-to guy' regarding Draft stuff, but I find myself hearing him out more, now, than I did in previous years. (Hmm maybe that says something about me.. haha I don't know.) The other day Kiper said that these Mocks are just guessing-games based on various scenarios; he made sure to state that he doesn't claim to know with certainty what will happen etc. So, I don't know, I kind of respected that. Still, I'll be watching NFLN because of the many reasons having already been stated throughout the thread.
I walked down 51st street at lunch. There must be ten media trucks there, and Fox Sports is set up across Sixth Avenue. It will be bedlam by tomorrow evening. Lots of fans around already.
Can't they all do some charity work today instead of just hanging around? Feed the homeless, clean up a playground, maybe visit an old Jet fan in that place they go to tremble and mumble?
I like ESPN coverage, although I'll just be DVRing it and fast fowarding between picks. That whole event is just sooooo boring. I like Gruden, and Mayock makes me cringe so ESPN it is.
Watching the NFL Network now, pretty interesting nuggets, I love this stuff. It's all guesswork but it's interesting nonetheless. And the smoke and mirrors are out if control. Houston may not take Clowney because "he doesn't fit their scheme". Yeah, change your scheme. _
The rumor on Jets trading up for Beckham is the fear that the 49ers with 11 picks and not many roster spots available are going to jump us and take him, they apparently really really want him. Don't do it Idzik. Too many good WRs available throughout this draft. _
I used to prefer NFLN but they sort of jumped the shark with me.They used to be about player evaluations now they just chase headlines the same way ESPN does. I'll take Kiper & Boomer. That's classic draft.
I usually watch both for the first few picks and choose which one is better this year. I also hate Scheffter and Boomers spoilers but they didn't do it much last year
Anything that involves Mel Kiper will not be watched by me, that's for sure. I think McShay is ok actually, and honestly Gruden is rather entertaining but ESPN coverage is ruined by Kiper. As far as NFLN, I like Rich Eisen, and I think Mayock is alright but he is kind of lost in this draft fantasy land where the draft itself is more important than the actual season. He always seems surprised by picks like they "broke the draft rules" but it seems to me like it's really just because he's not really tuned into the teams themselves but more like the draft to him is like what the fans want it to be. So in summation I don't watch it for the commentators I just want to see what the picks unfold, and NFLN happens to be the less annoying network, largely thanks to Kiper.
Ive always watched on ESPN but I remember last year they would pretty much say the picks before they were announced. That sucks. Is NFLN different? I wish Mayock and Gruden would switch networks so I could def ditch ESPN.
NFLN follows the company policy of making it more exciting, so they don't give away the picks until Goodell actually reads them out.
