http://espnmediazone.com/us/press-releases/2014/04/espn-to-televise-its-first-nfl-playoff-game/ Bad idea. All the people that don't have cable are screwed.
for the teams in market they will televise over the air on local channel. if we make it they will show it on Ch. 9 or ch. 11
But what about fans that aren't in their favorite teams local market? I guess it is no different than the NHL playing on the family of NBC channels that not everybody gets, or the NBA playing on TNT and ESPN.
NBC will get a div rd game- I would guess the Sat prime time one. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/04/22/nbc-gains-divisional-playoff-game/
So this pretty much guarentees we will have 14 teams in the playoffs in the 2015 season. Oh wait its for this season, odd but not suprised.
Not good. NFL is meant to be played on the major networks. MNF is a prime example of what's wrong with this idea. Unless ESPN changes their entire format for the playoff broadcasts which is a possibility but still questionable.
Just more proof as to how Goodell I s becoming the next David Stern and fucking up the league for $$$ Billionaire boys club just doesn't give a fuck about you.
I don't like it but it is what it is. This year is the last year of the current format. Next year they'll extend the playoffs from 12 to 14 teams.
That's a possibility but no doubt in the beginning (first few years) they will stick to ESPN brand unfortunately.
Probably but honestly, how much more can they build the ESPN brand up? From a ratings stand point it would benefit ABC but by airing it on ESPN they will be able to build up the brand and promote all their other shows which in turn would likely draw more ratings.
Well some people can't afford it bro.. Can't leave them out cuz of corporate greed... I can afford it but for the people that aren't as fortunate.....
lol corporate greed. It is a billion dollar business of getting people to spend their hard earned money to watch adults play a kids game by conning them into thinking it actually means something. It is all corporate greed. Nobody is entitled to watch NFL games so I don't see why it is such a big deal to put them on cable
I saw this the other night, its only a matter of time before we start paying for a commercial filled Super Bowl.
