That's exactly what I thought. Jacoby Jones signed a 4 year, $12 million contract with $4.5 million guaranteed. Let's see what the details of Ford's contract will be like. Jones is a pretty good KR and made some nice plays as a WR over the last years. Hopefully Ford can exceed Jones' contributions, cause Idzik could have gone for Jones otherwise (although he is older and more expensive). I was a bit surprised how cheap Jones was for the Ravens. Obviously there was not much of a market for him. Or I overrate Jones a little :D

He's a kick returner at best. I've followed his career. He was a track phenom. But he's not a route runner and is made of glass.

For whatever reason Goodell hates kick returns so they will no longer have the same impact with the new rules. But Ford will give quality returns nonetheless.

It's a low risk / medium reward. You have a guy who has talent and has under-performed in a situation that is akin to a "black hole". A change of scenery and some competent coaching could help this guy use his speed/talent to help this team. If he's shot, then you haven't spent anything. No one is ever going to say Ford isn't a talented playmaker. Naysayers who wanted DeSean, SHUT UP. Let the Redskins pay him guaranteed money so he can slack off and spend more time with this crip buddies than his team. Giving a lot of guaranteed money to players with questionable character usually works out poorly, as a matter of fact WE JUST DID THAT (Holmes). And so did the dummy 'Skins (Haynesworth). So basically Jackson either takes the money and says "bleh" or he takes the money, plays lights out (especially with RGIII throwing incredibly inaccurate long balls like last year) and holds out next year for 12m/year.

Decent pickup imo. Fords got good speed and adds some depth to the receiving corp and special teams. Nothing earth shattering, but still a good pickup

    Decker as a #1 or #2.
Kerley clear slot WR as #3.
    Nelson a very solid #4.
Puts Ford as a #5 with Stephen Hill. One won't be on the roster come Week 1.

Jets still need to sign a #1 WR or a #2 via draft likely

He will get on offense less than Cribbs did..he is strictly a return guy I would think.

I'd rather just try to keep developing Stephen Hill than bring in Jacoby Ford to steal his snaps, that said welcome aboard Jacoby Ford I don't think your stay will mean much.
I hate how quick everyone is to call Hill a bust. Is he coming along slowly? yes. Do his hands and routes need improvement? yes
That said when he lines up to play he's going to be faster and stronger than 95% of the corners trying to cover him. Let the man enter his physical prime and learn the game before we label him the next Vernon Gholston.. we only got him 2 drafts ago.

It's getting horrific in here, isn't it? Come on guys, once you've made it clear you don't like something, you don't have to say it repeatedly in thread after thread. We know how you feel.

you mean the active roster? like suited up for a game? teams usually carry 6, so hill will probably not see playing time this season unless somebody goes down. i dont think the jets will let hill go to the practice squad, and they aint ready to cut him yet either

unless they view nelson as a 2. he played pretty well last season and with the way the team is shaping up it seems we might draft a te first round and grab a wr a little later.

all the talking heads agree that this is the deepest draft in living memory for WRs and also a great draft for CBs and so I feel pretty sure that we will look at both in round 1 - 3

Really?Idzik is a magician for signing an injury prone former Raider who's terrified of being hit?

If he beats out Clyde Gates, I'll be happy.

Hardly an earth shattering signing but also doesn't hurt, especially considering how bad our ST has been lately.

I am a big fan of this signing. Low Risk, Medium Reward. He immediately becomes the best PR on the team, probably the best KR, but that doesn't matter in today's NFL. He's a former track star and his 40 time shows that. If he can stay healthy it will interesting to see what MM can do with him.

He has only returned 9 punts in his career..I'm not sure that's his calling.
