Step in the right direction. Nice depth signing. http://www.nj.com/jets/index.ssf/20...ck_jeremy_reeves_a_fast_undrafted_player.html
F'n Idzik is such an idiot he tried to sign Revis and ended up with Reeves. That's what happens when you hire an accountant for your GM that knows nothing about football. derps.
F#$k Mevi$, he is a legend in his own mind .... At $6 mil a year fine .... Anything more F@#k him ... Idzik ain't stupid, we don't need Mevi$ to win, I'll take 2 Higher end players than him ...
I like the signing, he cost nothing to bring in and could be a raw gem. You can't teach speed and his athletic ability is very good.
Reeves could be a candidate to move to free safety, as he isn't really a press corner. He could definitely be a contributor on special teams as a gunner and return kicks or punts for us. Maybe even some gadget plays on offense? The video of his vertical he practically just floated up there. True underdog story
Maybe he can clean the field after the game?id like to see him pan out and be some success story but I don't get my hopes high on that kind of thing
My post on Reeves from the Free Agency Tracker thread. http://forums.theganggreen.com/threads/2014-jets-free-agency-tracker.80155/page-455#post-2972494
I thought about that, maybe if he works on his footwork. Slot receivers have a different footwork to accommodate the smaller working area and nickel corners have to mirror that footwork so they don't get juked out of their cleats covering a route. It's not just the size of the player it's the quickness of mind and feet and hands that makes a good nickel, Mickens was great at that
I remember scouts saying Mickens was too small but he handled it well. I honestly cannot remember what type defenses the Jets played back then with Mickens but I seem to remember he did played tight coverages, particularly in crossing pattererns because of his speed and quickness. Not expecting Reeves to be Mickens but I agree with you that with Reeve's quickness, he may fit in one of Rex schemes.
He had his best years under Parcells and Groh with that 34, but I don't think the schemes were all that important since he mainly played in the nickel sets I'm also not expecting him to be Mickens but it's a fun idea until it doesn't happen
with his size he might do well in the nickel because slot guys play off the line anyway and his speed would be an asset there. need more tape on him to have a better opinion. like i said if he can cover his speed will be an asset. hell if he makes the roster i wouldnt be surprised to see rex send him on some blitzes too.
