This is a pleasant surprise. Hopefully Izdik can repeat some of his past magic and find a few gems in the 6th.

Personally I'm not expecting the next Tom Brady, but I'll take the next Richard Sherman. :p

3 fourth rounders! Oh... this changes many things, we can do some trading now. 4 sixth rounders now but can only trade one. I wouldn't be opposed to trading one maybe two lower picks. The 7th rounder would be a tackling dummy for camp purposes, probably stuck with that. I could go on ad infinitum, but I wont.

Doesn't the comparison have a lot to do with what they do at their next team though? I know Red had a few good plays with us but was pretty unproductive over most of the season but I have to admit I am ignorant about the other players they lost.

    Value of each tradable pick:

1st round (18th pick of the 1st and overall)- 900
    2nd round (17th pick of the 2nd round- 49th overall)- 410
    3rd round (16th pick of the 3rd round- 80th overall)- 190
    4th round #1 (4th pick of the 4th round- 100th overall)- 100
    4th round #2 (15th pick of the 4th round- 111th overall)- 72
    5th round (14th pick of the 5th round-142nd overall)- 35
    6th round (19th pick of the 6th round- 179th overall)- 19.8
    7th round (18th pick of the 7th round- 210th overall) 7.4

Theres ALOT of opportunities to move up and down at our desecration should we so choose.

AWESOME! It's about time something nice happens to us.

Also, OP your post is wrong. We have 3 4th round picks, not two.

Are there any kick ass punters we can take with one of those 6th round picks?

Good teams find value in late round picks and undrafted free agents. We've picked up some solid players in the late rounds, including Kerley, Allen, and a few years back Slauson. Austin Howard was an UDFA. This is despite years of practically giving away draft picks. You get to where Seatle is right now by finding value wherever you can.

It mostly has to do with how much $ they made with the 2nd team, actually. Player performance (and, for some reason, team performance) is a secondary factor. That being said, the actual formula is confidential...

Here's a good explanation from last year: http://www.nationalfootballpost.com/Compensatory-pick-breakdown.html

For the more specific questions, the NFL uses a secret formula to determine the order of the pics. It's confidential for some reason.

Wow! Three 4th rounders! We can trade some or stock up on value talent. OLBS & OL a plenty! Now about trading that early 4th for Desean.

I don't what kind of formula they use, man.

But the Packers got a 3rd rounder for Greg Jennings.

Despite the fact he's an over-30 possession receiver at this stage who Ted Thompson made no effort to re-resign.

I think the contract the player signs is a big factor. If a player gets signed away on a multi-year deal it carries more weight than if he signs a 1 or even 2 year deal. I believe that is independent of performance also. It's what the player did for you and then what he was signed away for.
