I have googled desean Jackson news too many times in the last week, make it happen Sent from my HTC One using Tapatalk
I don't think it's that simple. The Bucs got DR as part of a major move to get over the top and contend last season. They made other big free agent moves around the DR trade and they clearly were in the last year of the "Is Josh Freeman our guy?" question. DJ to the Jets will not put the team over the top at this point unless they get very lucky in a few other spots as well, notably the QB position and the overall injury situation. If the Jets do get lucky at QB it doesn't really matter if they get DJ or not. They're going to be better if the QB is good. If they don't get lucky at QB adding DJ won't fix things. I saw the DR to the Bucs as a high risk/high reward type move and then the bottom fell out on them. I see DJ to the Jets as making the difference between going 8-8 and going 8-8. It just changes the shape of 8-8 a bit.
Does it make any sense to pass on a 4th & 5th if that's true that we offered that and then just cut him recovering nothing in return?
Damien Woody @damienwoody 1h Ppl comparing D-Jax & Tone but here's the difference.....Jets have a coach on the staff who's actually coached him for most of his career
Because people on here was saying they would give up a 4th or 5th but no way to a 3rd as if the contract numbers will change . So that means people are looking at value of the player not the money .. Your just helping my point lol
This is a great article. Read this. http://www.nj.com/eagles/index.ssf/2014/03/desean_jackson_chip_kelly.html
no, that doesn't support your position, it disputes your position. they are saying he is worth a 4th or 5th because of the ramifications of his contract, but a 3rd is too high if you also have to pay him $10 million a year for three years to keep him. and he is especially not worth a 3rd if you dump him after one season, but he is worth getting just for one season if he is released to avoid paying him $10 million next year if you only give up a 4th or 5th. that position has nothing to do with his contract changing, it has to do with the fact that his contact will not change, and that contract could mean he is off the team in a year if he doesn't produce, gets injured, is a headache, etc. it isn't worth the risk of a 3rd at his current contract, but is worth a 4th or a 5th. that isn't about his talent, it is about his talent in conjunction with the cost of his contract and its salary cap ramifications. how the hell can you actually confuse your position with that position?
I think that recent robbery had served his reputation as a problem of the field. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk
sure. if you accept a low offer, than you lose credibility when negotiating trades in the future, and teams and players know they can bilk you. But if you don't give him up for under his value, the teams that wanted to trade for him may not be able to sign him, and thus that team loses out on his services. that's the value of making trades -- guaranteeing you get the player, but to do so you have to give up what the current team wants in return. by releasing the player sure the Eagles lose a draft pick in return, but the team that wanted him loses out on the player if he signs elsewhere, so it isn't just the Eagles losing. if a team wants him they have to make the trade, and the Eagles have a vested interest in sending the message that they can't just be low-balled if you want their players.
He's not willing to restructure because he wants to be on the market and make MORE money, not less (which he's very ill informed if he thinks that will happen). He will sabotage any trade attempts, its not that uncommon.
I didn't say that, but it was a big deal to the eagles apparently. He had like 250k stolen and 2 hand guns, it was all over the radio. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk
Because DeSean Jackson is really, really good and players like that rarely get drafted in the 4th round. And then the Jets would still have to give that player a big contract in a few years anyway.
You said I guess I misunderstood what that meant? I still don't get how him getting robbed makes him the bad guy to anyone?
Yeah sorry should have spelled it out better. I agree it's not like he was on drugs, but like I said earlier, one of my favorite stations on the radio is the fanatic. When that happens the media lit into him, and there were reports then that they wanted to get rid of him. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N900A using Tapatalk
